I wasn't sure if this was the right place to post this but I guess it is a system showcase. Down the bottom (in the picture) are 300b parallel singled ended mono blocks, up top is custom made el34 push pull stereo amp , preamp is Supratek Syrah, source is musical fidelity dm25 transport and dac. Speakers are Altec model 19 replicas using 515 on base and 902 compression drivers on top bi-amped (el34 amp on bass and 300b's for mids and top end) using modified crown crossover. I just thought the low light picture looked cool. Currently listening to "Nora Jones and the little willies" and "Passenger flight of the crow" and enjoying scotch and dry.

Looking forward to the pics!

Suggestion, maybe adjust your ISO reading on your camera and all those lovely tubes should come in a bit clearer.

Obviously you have no need for heating in the house when these bad boys are glowing!

The camera is quite old and that was the best i could get...and as far as heating i also have a krell ksa200 and it puts out enough heat to warm the whole house..

Ok - here's a pic of my Melody in a brighter setting  :)

Hi there, I've recently acquired a Melody SP1 with relatively no "use" time and is mint condition. I have read with interest some of your posting and would greatly appreciate picking your brains for information regarding this sweet amp. I must say this is the first "valve" unit I have owned in "a very long time", and now question my "tin thing acquisitions" over the last 45 or so years!

I am now in the process of learning the pros and cons of "tube rolling", hence... Musically, the unit is transparent and if not a tad warm, pending on music selections, I listen to just about everything from the seventies, and eighties and now discovering jazz/rock, think I got that right...

The Melody is bog stock and running all original valves, however, I have been told that there maybe issues with replacement valves being compatible! There appears to be no shortage of valves, however, I have heard some valves costing as much as some peoples monthly mortgage and I can't see the value in them, so here I am asking a fellow Melody owner for your opinion on suitable replacement valves,

Current system: Audio, Melody SP1, Yamaha NS 890's, Yamaha CDX, Kimber 12VS cable, iPod as primary source, DAC coming soon, interconnect by LOU!

Home theatre: Rotel RMB 1095, RSP985, Krix Esoterixx and Krix Centrix, IMF Super Compacts.a6abyjer.jpghymesety.jpg

Great amp - had mine since 09 and still love it - these are a very revealing warm amp and will reward you with the best source and speakers.

As you have the Yamaha 890's it should be a good pairing with the Melody.

Thanks for the prompt reply and the information on the your choice of valves! One last query, I have tried to get more details on the amp and have come a gutser, there is vertically no info to be found or reviews and have sent email after email to melody with no response, just looking for reviews and specs and any related. Cheers,

Gidday Gottee, I WANT ONE IN EVERY-ROOM PLEASE! Nah, to old now to be spending my future on great listening equipment, so I'll just have to pretend with what I have. Haven't heard a Manley since leaving QLD fourteen years ago and remember the quality to this day...

The Manley does a good job for what it is but it's my last choice of amps to use, it looks cool at night.

Butt (pun intended) the Manley won't be as good as the Melody or as good looking!  :P

Very little available - 40W/ channel push pull with high quality transformers, choke and components.

Just enjoy it for it's looks and sound  :)

if you need repairs or want a checkover-  Hi fi exchange would be my first preference.

The tech found a fault recently with mine when I had the bias checked.

Has the gauntlet been thrown down, is this a challenge and what is to be achieved? The audio quest is alive and well, however, if I may interject, it is all personal and no matter opinions or comparing it is the individual that makes the final choice! Apologies if I have offended anyone! As my last wife would say as would many others, BOYS AND THEIR TOYS!

What will be achieved is that one of my spare amps will blow away @@evil c pride and joy. "And that, my friends, is audio winning!" ;)

Why? - too scared to hand deliver it - or does a couple of postage stamps take away hard earned better spent on audio toys?

Apologies guys, seriously though it personal choice and I'll go anywhere to listen to good audio and take home the meeting of good people and the aspirations to have even better audio equipment on day, all to the hard work people such as yourselves do and share their knowledge with newbees like me!
