The Fez Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 Got this DAC last week. I've listened to it once (coax) and sound is very good. However I'd like to try the USB input. As far as I can see SBT with EDO should recognise this DAC as a USB audio out device. Firmware on the DAC is #9-3 - That should be right... LMS Version 7.7.3 Am I missing something? Thanks for any help...
SteveC Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 Have you tried reinstalling EDO and rebooting the SBT a few times with the DAC plugged in?
The Fez Posted August 25, 2013 Author Posted August 25, 2013 Yes I've tried that also, however no joy.
SteveC Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 I just read his instructions for using with the SBT and it seems simple enough. I would just update the firmware to the latest again. It is up to 11. Also he says that the USB is data only and not 5V powered. Not sure if that will be an issue with cables or if you should try it through a powered hub to get it going? I would try and get it working via USB out of a laptop/PC to see if that works as well. Computer audio is so much fun!
The Fez Posted August 26, 2013 Author Posted August 26, 2013 It works via a powered hub. I was of the understanding that a hub is not required? I now have some buffering issues with hi-es files. Its frustrating currently....
SteveC Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Yes it is. I run the SBT into a iUSB and then Stello U3 to the Metrum so not the same as yours. But the Stello needs to be powered up(via iUSB) before the SBT will find it and only following an EDO reinstall. But once it's done I never have to touch it. Do you have the DAC switched on before you reset the SBT? Tried changing the USB cable? Did you try unplug from the hub and go direct once it found it? Otherwise looks like some fun e-mailing to Kingwa to see what the go is with the need for a hub?
