Addicted to music Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 My heart ached when I discovered this news, what a cruel blow to such a talented artist who's career span over a few decades. I discovered her when I was a teenager, I loved her works with Nelson Riddle, its one of the most memorable works that I will always treasure. http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2013/08/24/linda-ronstadt-tells-aarp-has-parkinsons-says-cant-sing/ My apologies for such devastating news.

Guest Willow Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 Read a report this morning in the American music press about this pc , she kept it quiet for some time. Grumps will also be saddened with the news.
ehtcom Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 That is really sad news. My favourite song of Linda's is her version of old paint.
Addicted to music Posted August 24, 2013 Author Posted August 24, 2013 That is really sad news. My favourite song of Linda's is her version of . Earle, To me anything she sings are my favourite, the feminine power of that voice is so hypnotic, you just cannot escape it, she can really reach into your soul. My kids are sick of me playing it. I don't care how they feel, Linda's music got me though some rough times. 2
LHC Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 Oh Crap that's bad news. +1 sad news indeed. I love her voice. http://youtu.be/tvXPBC0t6Mk 3
comfortablynumb Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 Very sad news. So she "can't sing a note" anymore. Doesn't really matter, although it is probably a great personal loss to her. The rest of the world still has all those recordings from the last 40+ years. Those recordings will never change.
Sir Triode Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 (edited) Terrible news. She is part Mexican too. Edited August 24, 2013 by triode12

Thanks nonetheless PC. As one who is around the half century mark, Linda is one of my all time fav artists too. I hadn't seen a pic or her in a long time either, so her new (old) look is quite a contrast from the slender youthful babe of the 70's. Getting old is a cruel process and Parkinson's is just one of many 'bad luck' ailments likely to strike. At least she has the wealth to help make her life as comfortable as possible, and I'm sure she's in the hands of the very best neurologists. Regardless, one can only hope that diseases such as Parkinson's can ultimately be halted, if not cured some time soon.
Tony M Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 (edited) Stone Ponies in 1967, fronted by Linda, singing a Mike Nesmith song "Different Drum" takes me back to that magic time, every time. She also outdid Roy with Blue Bayou. But my favourite Linda is the simple and somewhat trite-sounding* "Adios" *Of course, having been written by the great Jimmy Webb, Adios might sound forgettable on first listen, but it has that capacity that all the best music has - to grow into your soul. Catostylus Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 Never a fan (not my genre) but very sad to hear in any event.

She also outdid Roy with Blue Bayou. EXACTLY! Tony. That song was always being played down at the Semaphore sideshows and at the Findon Skid Kids, both places I spent a lot of time at during the 60's and Different Drum certainly brings back those memories. I I remember cranking the system up for Mr and Mrs Cheekyboy one evening with Linda's Blue Bayou - really loud, what a fantastic version of that song (I have a few Linda LP's) Edited August 25, 2013 by Grumpy
Willco Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 Indeed sad time for a great Artist of our time--I hope she can be with a while longer--thank you for the memories Willco
Hugh Dean Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Very sad. I have really admired Ronstadt since I bought Different Drum in the sixties when she was about my age....... a few years do a lot of damage to all of us. Hugh 1
