many may not know who

bill putt

was,

he was the bass player for the legendary aussie band

spectrum

 the song "ill be gone"

became an anthem in the 70's

and remains one of the best and most loved songs in aussie rock

he will be forever remembered for his contribution to the Australian music industry

and all who knew him personally say ,he was a true gentleman

he passed in Melbourne ,on Monday of heart failure

he was one of the reasons I started to play a  bass,

a great man on and off stage

R.I.P.

RIP Bill.

Spectrum were still playing gigs around Melbourne right up to last week AFAIK.

Saw them last at the Need For Feed fundraiser at Pakenham Racecourse a couple of years ago.  It was a wet windy miserable night, but they played to about 2 dozen of us as though it was a packed house.

Absolute professionals, and always a treat to hear.

I have a CD of Bills with another musician with surname Rudd (Mike?), I will have to dig it out as I haven't seen it let alone played it in years. RIP Bill.

Was just looking at a recent performance on you tube & thinking I should check them out live when playing in town.

Legendary signature sounding ground-breaking Aussie gent.  :(

Correct Simon.

Legends!

Damn shame 'bout Bill Putt.

Another one of Australia's quiet achievers.

I've always liked his work with Spectrum. I know I have some of my Dad's Spectrum LP's (and Ariel too!) stashed away somewhere.

He will be sadly missed
