News from official channel is that Fengmi has decided to rename Fengmi VX as Fengmi V10 as not everyone is able to understand that X is the roman numeral for 10. Rumbling sound is heard in videos if you watch with speakers or headsets which is apparently due to my ceiling fan which I didn't hear while reviewing on phone but only heard when videos were saved to the PC. They are not a result of the in-built sound system of Fengmi V10. All videos and pictures of Fengmi VX are either done on Wemax P50 Pro 50” ALR screen or against the wall at size of approximately 90~100”. Introduction After continuous releases of rectangular UST one after another followed by circular R1, squarish R1 Nano and a cube like Vogue Pro, Fengmi releases their flagship 4K short throw projector in a unique cylindrical shape, Fengmi V10. Fengmi V10 features not only a unique design but also with a refreshing color scheme (no more boring blacks!) with grey mesh and gold/wood tones. This color scheme will fit very well into a Scandinavian or luxe themed home! Specifications · 2500 ANSI Lumens · 0.47 DMD · Projection ratio 1:1.271 · Omnidirectional automatic keystone correction and focus · Smart Screen Calibration; intelligent obstacle avoidance & screen alignment · 240Hz frame rate during gaming mode · 12ms latency during gaming mode · Smart OS; FengOS · 2 x 7.5W Tweeter + 15W woofer for 2.1 Dolby Audio · 2 x HDMI 2.1 (1 with ARC) · 3.5mm output · 2 x USB 2.0 · Wireless casting; Huawei Cast+, Miracast DNLA, Airplay · Dimensions - Diameter 200x Height 210 mm · Weight - 3.8kg Pictures Audio Fengmi V10 includes not only 2 tweeters which is common for similar sized projectors but only a subwoofer which is a first for such short throw projector! The subwoofer is sealed and downward firing. At levels of 25 (maximum 100), it fills the immediate area with sufficient volume. Audio is clear with stereo left and right channels. More remarkably, the frequency response test video here by me shows a capability of 18kHz+ all the way down to 50+Hz! The crossover from tweeter to subwoofer is at about 120Hz+! This is one capable built in sound system that does not leave one lacking for punchy sub and deep bass! A separate stereo test is done here: Movie image test Images above: HDR Image of Solo from Disney+ with brightness and contrast increased to 70~80 at 50” image size. Image below: Curtains from behind fully opened and image at 90 ~100” size. This is why you need a ALR screen Images below: ….Or you can close your 80% black out curtains for a cinematic 90~100” experience. Gaming image and videos Android and PC program Moonlight used for wireless PC gaming: https://moonlight-stream.org/ Wireless PC gaming via Moonlight android app with Geforce Experience at 120 fps HDMI 1080p PC gaming in cinema mode at likely 60 fps HDMI 1080p PC gaming at 240 fps in gaming mode Gaming on this projector is very immersive to the point that I thought I was gaming on a high frame rate monitor with a 2.1 desktop speaker system. At no point did I detect any moments where I could not pull off moves/died due to latency or sudden lag. The whole gaming experience was completely smooth and lag free. While wireless gaming via moonlight with geforce experience at 120 fps is doable, it would be much better to hook up hdmi directly to your gaming PC to play at 240 fps which is just mind blowing. If big screen gaming on projector is your priority, Fengmi V10 is the projector to bring home. Other tests and comments Boot-up time Start-up test was done here: It takes a total of 30s for the projector to completely boot up. Power brick The power brick is huge with 3m long extension from plug to projector connection. The power brick consists of 2 parts; power brick to projector and an approximately 2m long C5 power cable. You could replace the power cable if required for longer length or just use an extension cord. Remote control Fengmi remote control is the latest color scheme of grey with black buttons with usual standardized buttons. Previous versions were completely black. Distance from screen/wall To project 50”, distance required is 1.4m To project 100”, distance required is approximate 2.8m Speaker mode Unfortunately, music configuration is currently linked to QQ music and there were no settings that I could find that enables it to be used as a stand-alone Bluetooth speaker. Perhaps this could be an additional feature in a future firmware update. Final thoughts Though Fengmi is later to the game for 4K LED short throw projectors, Fengmi has put in much effort for Fengmi V10 to differentiate themselves from similar competitors. Fengmi has positioned itself as a lifestyle projector for multiple use purposes, be it movie or gaming night. There are only 2 other projectors that are able to do 240Hz at low latency and both do not have any built-in android OS and are 25~70% more costly. Even if 240Hz is not a key consideration, similar brightness LED projectors with built-in OS are all priced at 25% or more. It’s a no brainer that Fengmi V10 is the one to go for if you are looking for a 4K short throw projector. Pros Unique design Powerful sound system Gaming performance at high frame rate Value for money against competitors High brightness Deals with HDR well with some tweaking MEMC included Cons No native netflix support Heat exhaust from back ventilation if you sit directly behind Unable to use as stand-alone Bluetooth speaker for now No option to screw in tripod at bottom due to woofer On the heavier side of 3.8kg vs competitors Edited July 6, 2022 by Loba
Vliro
How do you get 240Hz on this projector? Have the same one connected to my PC in gaming mode but only 1080p60 or 4k60 are available as output options.
