hyper Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 I stumbled across these guys today http://www.stockfisch-records.de/sf12_start_e.html and seems an interesting little record label I was wondering if any members have heard any of their stuff and your thoughts on them?
cheekyboy Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Very good label that has been around for a lot of years now. Generally hi end audiophile recordings, some of which are absolutely stunning........highly recommended on vinyl and SACD. Cheers, Keith
betty boop Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 (edited) Very good on vinyl and sacd. Can't fault Edited July 31, 2013 by :) al
joz Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Great label. IMO start with the "Closer To The Music"titles they are fantastic samplers!
hyper Posted July 31, 2013 Author Posted July 31, 2013 Thanks for feedback guys! Can't believe I haven't come across them before! Their DMM to DSD process looks interesting..
cafe67 Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 As above, try a sampler, work out who you like and who you don't, then buy some albums. I did the same with peter Gabriel's real world label, bought a compilation album called "bliss" which is very good.
hyper Posted July 31, 2013 Author Posted July 31, 2013 Went ahead and ordered close to the music vol 4
joz Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Good work, great recording quality on these discs. The voice's tonal quality with a tuneful bass by the artists makes these discs a step up over so many others. You'll be after the other Closer to the Music discs in the series after a listen I think

cheekyboy Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 (edited) Hi hyper, Steve Strauss - Just Like Love would arguably be the best CD for sound quality I have and it is on Stockfish. Highly recommend it to you............not sure if there's a couple of samplers of Steve Strauss on the one you're getting though. Cheers, Keith Edited August 1, 2013 by cheekyboy

rocky500 Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Just looked on their site and they have a new interesting format. DMM-CD/SACD Is this a big win for vinyl lovers that say vinyl sounds better than cd? http://www.stockfisch-records.de/pages_art/sf12_dmmcd_e.html Anyone tried one.

hyper Posted August 1, 2013 Author Posted August 1, 2013 Ok I had a quick listen to sample of his album just like love, sounded awesome and bought the SACD online just now Thanks for tip! Found a few copies on eBay from Germany but Duetchse post suck so bought it online from refencedisc.com.au never bought from them before? Hopefully all good. Cost abit more but hopefully get it in a few days not 1 month which seems the norm from Germany for me!
Dr Good Vibe Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 Have most or them Hype, the vinyl is great. But the tapes could be incredable. Maybe, 1
hyper Posted August 3, 2013 Author Posted August 3, 2013 Given the small samples I've heard I suspect commercially available tapes would be awesome from these guys!
olderas Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 Stockfish, are brilliant if you like folky kind of music. The recordings are superb. Some are out of stock on the official website, but you can get them from other dealers, such as the DMM/SACD jazz recordings. While you are at it, I have bought every TACET recording I could get, they are superb as well, classics only though. A steal at 23 Euro each!! 1
hyper Posted August 5, 2013 Author Posted August 5, 2013 Hi hyper, Steve Strauss - Just Like Love would arguably be the best CD for sound quality I have and it is on Stockfish. Highly recommend it to you............not sure if there's a couple of samplers of Steve Strauss on the one you're getting though. Cheers, Keith Just quick update my SACD arrived today! Wow! What a great album. Sonically what blows me away whilst the recording is good the overall tonal balance in the mastering is nothing short of superb! Thanks for the tip Keith very happy
cheekyboy Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 You're welcome, hyper, I'm pleased you like the album. It really is one of the best sounding CDs I have in my collection. Cheers, Keith
hyper Posted August 5, 2013 Author Posted August 5, 2013 Yup totally agree Keith its certainly up there in my collection to now. Pretty amazing sound they pull off for a relatively small label. Makes you wonder what some of the bigger labels are doing when they spend 20x as much!
joz Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 . Pretty amazing sound they pull off for a relatively small label. Makes you wonder what some of the bigger labels are doing when they spend 20x as much! They don't have the love! 1
cheekyboy Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Yup totally agree Keith its certainly up there in my collection to now. Pretty amazing sound they pull off for a relatively small label. Makes you wonder what some of the bigger labels are doing when they spend 20x as much! Hi hyper, if you're interested in small labels that really do take the time to get it right, have look at Blue Coast Records. I can highly recommend both Blue Coast Collection and Blue Coast Collection 2.............they are both stunning recordings. Cheers, Keith
Gee Emm Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 $50 for a download. That's getting up there $ wise considering all I get is 0s & 1s. Or is it? I have nothing to compare it to, as I don't download music or movies. Graham
