gz76 Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Not sure how many of you read the digital edition of Stereophile, but for those who do (or who may be interested in starting) you might like this promo. I just noticed it on Zinio today: 2 years (24 issues) for about $13 http://au.zinio.com/www/browse/product.jsp?offer=500431085&productId=6537936 Works on PC/MAC, Win8, Android, iPad, Rim, iPhone, and WebOS. 1
Dolphy Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 This has been an ongoing offer for a while, I've already got a two year subscription. I also get What Hi-Fi and Home Theatre.
DoggieHowser Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Curious. If you are already a subscriber, does taking the offer extend your current plan for a further 2 years? Or does it extend from today? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2
Dolphy Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 from my experience it extended the subscription by two additional years
metal beat Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 (edited) good news I had a $10 voucher, so all up I paid $3. Edited July 30, 2013 by turntable 2
LogicprObe Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 I only pay that for the hard copy.............................plus fifty bucks postage! 1
Dolphy Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 good news I had a $10 voucher, so all up I paid $3. Bad news. It does not work on Android - On my google nexus 7 is says you need Adobe Flash to get started. GRRRRR. PITA. The LAST thing I want to do is view Stereophile on my desktop. Have you installed the Zinio reader? I'm using the Samsung Galaxy S4 and I've been able to read the magazine. I use my iPad as my main reader.

Candyflip Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Worth it? I'm not an 'audiophile', but am interested in equipment. Is this for me? 1
DoggieHowser Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Thanks to the OP. Just extended my subscription for another 2 years. Any offers for Home Theater mag? @candyflip, I don't really use it to buy stuff but it is just gear porn
LogicprObe Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Worth it? I'm not an 'audiophile', but am interested in equipment. Is this for me? Best there is.
wolster Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Well, I do appreciate porn.... I only read it for the articles. 2
automated Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 good news I had a $10 voucher, so all up I paid $3. Same here, bargain! I was already subscribed so I've got 32 remaining issues.
georgehifi Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 I'm a bit old fashioned, I like to sit in the sun with the mag and a scotch and have a good read. It's good value as well with postage for 12mts only around $3 per issue delivered to your door in Australia a month in advance of the issue date. And that's a month before you see it in the newsagents in Australia which will cost you upward of $24 per issue. Cheers George 1
wolster Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Good point, George. I'll admit to not reading my digital hi-fi mags as much as I used to read the hard copies.
Sir Triode Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 I haven't bothered resubscribing - can't be bothered scrolling though the multitude of adverts for reviews which are also mainly adverts in disguise.

Cheers George Each to their own of course, but for me I can still do this with a digital version on the iPad. I used to love print mags, but I hate throwing them away and they take up space. The digital version solves this problem for me. Regarding costs, 12 months postage alone is more than the total subscription cost for a digital version. As far as I know the digital version is released at the same time as the US release of the print version so no delays at all. I can also read the same digital version while I'm waiting at the doctors, client office, etc. on my phone. Or on my PC at work during lunch. It's quite convenient (although tablets still provide the best reading experience IMO). Change can be difficult, so I think it's one of those things you have to try to see the benefits. At just $13 it's worth giving it a go. 4

gz76 Posted July 31, 2013 Author Posted July 31, 2013 I reckon those new waterproof Sony tablets would be perfect for those conditions LogicprObe. Just hose it down every once in a while. 1
