blakey72 Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 I went to Melbourne On Thursday to audition some standmounts for my Exposure 2010S2 amp and Audiolab CD2000 cd player. I listened to quite a few: Dynaudio DM 2_7, Excite X2, X16, Focus 110AFocal 806V, 807VXavian XN 125KEF LS50Various ProAc'sAaron HSS300 Paradigm Studio 20 I liked the bottom end of the Focals but they just didn't have the imaging. I loved the imaging of the X12's however the bass sounded strained and a little artificial to me. But the ones that really stood out to me being a cross between the X12's and Focals were the PMC TB2S+'s.Amazing imaging even with only a few hours on them. And very convincing down low, these things shake you! Can't wait till they have 150-200 hours on them.CheersBlake. 4
blakey72 Posted July 29, 2013 Author Posted July 29, 2013 For anyone looking for a match made in heaven give Exposure and PMC a try! I'm sitting here listening to them now with only 1 hour on them and they are the best speakers I have EVER heard. Amazing.... 1
~Spyne~ Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 Where abouts did you pick them up from? I've also got a 2010S2, but am working my way through the build of some SEAS bookshelves.
blakey72 Posted July 30, 2013 Author Posted July 30, 2013 Where in Victoria are you Blake? I'm in Horsham, in between Melbourne and Adelaide :/

I bought them from Victor at Stereophonic, Docklands. He was excellent, very patient and helpful. http://www.stereophonic.com.au/pmc-tb2-book-shelf/ 1
Al Leece Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 PMC do make great speakers, but I am biased... :-D
betty boop Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 Yep biased here too ! But lovely speakers pmc indeed Congrats glad you love em
Darren69 Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Hey, you did the trip!! Awesome and so glad you had a great time and found something special, great stuff.
Newman Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 I'm in Horsham, in between Melbourne and Adelaide :/ Think of it as being downhill to left and right…. 2
blakey72 Posted August 9, 2013 Author Posted August 9, 2013 I'm definitely hooked on the PMC/Exposure sound. Victor at Stereophonic said it was a magic combo and he was sot on. The PMC's only have 50 hours on them and I can't pull myself away. Kind of wish I was in Melbourne so some of you guys could come around for a listen. The Exposure MCX Pre/Power and PMC MB2i combo is on the radar in the distant future!
Jventer Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 The Exposure MCX Pre/Power and PMC MB2i combo is on the radar in the distant future! Be warned, while upgraditis is a very enjoyable sickness it is very bad for your bank balance Enjoy.
blakey72 Posted August 10, 2013 Author Posted August 10, 2013 I love this hobby (not sure about the bank manager)
legselevens Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 Nice score Blakey. And how did the Kef's perform in the audition?
Mushroom01 Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 Hey Blakey, PMC's looks fantastic! Bet they sound real nice!!
blakey72 Posted August 11, 2013 Author Posted August 11, 2013 Nice score Blakey. And how did the Kef's perform in the audition? I liked them a lot! Very matter of fact, however they just didn't have the ability to sound 'big' in a natural way like the PMC's.
petng Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Hey Blake. please contact me regarding the ps1 issue. I tried to pm you .
Stokesy Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 I have an Exposure 2010S2 running a set of 806VW's in my second system, love the combo!!
blakey72 Posted September 16, 2013 Author Posted September 16, 2013 (edited) 150 hours on the PMC's now. WOW have they improved! Mids are just heavenly. Dianna Krall's voice puts shivers up my spine and the bass in Erykah Badu's Baduizm is amazing. Soundstage is huge, friends have been looking for the centre speaker and subwoofer LOL. I really think I need to look at how the room is set up now. Maybe do some research into treatments. Blake. Edited September 16, 2013 by blakey72 2
blakey72 Posted September 16, 2013 Author Posted September 16, 2013 Oh I must add that I will be seeking the advice of my fellow SNA members over the next 12 months or so as I'll be moving onto property out of town This means I'll be planning and building a dedicated listening room. I've read in a few places pentagon shape and slanted ciling is best.
bebop Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 Very nice blakey72. Is that finish on the TB2+ a matte finish? Exposure make nice amps. I have a good buddy who runs the same amp to his Usher Tiny Dancers, and sounds very sweet. It's definitely high on my list of amps when upgrade time comes again.
Darren69 Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 The best thing is property out of town, awesome!!
