Midori Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 I am looking at purchasing a 2 channel pre-amplifier. However, this model does not comes with HT bypass. Does anyone knows if I can have a HT bypass modification added, using one of the analog inputs? If so, could you recommend someone would could do this for me at a reasonable price? I am in WA by the way.
betty boop Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Will depend on specific design as to what's possible. It might be cheaper easier simpler more straight forward to just buy a pre amp already with ht bypass. No matter type of pre Amp. Valve, ss etc all kinds avalable with a ht bypass. There's a beaut primare pre 30 going really cheap on dtv I see
DoggieHowser Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 I agree with al. There are many options these days for HT bypass feature. If however you have your mind set on a particular preamp, the alternative is to set one line input on the preamp for the AVR's preout and set the volume to one that can be easily reproduced. If it has a digital readout, it would help in this aspect. Another feature that would help is if the preamp supports different levels for different inputs. Otherwise, set it to the middle of the range. Hopefully it won't be too loud when you switch it back to yr CD and you forget to change the level back

The RCA/XLR inputs are effectively the same input to the power amp and the "switch" only changes the way grounding is done/connected. So if you hook both connections in, you introduce noise into the system with the other cable acting as a long antenna.
