Guest Crystara Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 (edited) Hi Has anyone got one of these or had one, how would this compare to the Audiophileo 2, You can buy a dedicated upgraded power supply, What sort of USB connection is that on the front ? Edited July 19, 2013 by Guest
LHH Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Yup, an ethernet port, it's used for the I2S output I'd guess.
Guest Crystara Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 I Thought the same thing, but for what reason?
Guest Crystara Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 But at 1/3 of the price how far behind could it be read some good reviews on it very similar to the Audio-gd unit
davewantsmoore Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 So much hate for the Tenor. I think driver issues really killed the reviews on it... more so than poor SQ.

That's a tragedy when the simple implementation of something could have been avoided and substituted for a more effective but not more costly piece of hardware, guess I won't be purchasing after all the negative feedback this has received thanks to everyone for there in put it's back to the Audiophileo 2

I have also used the JK Ciunas which was quite good too (I preferred it to the AP2 w/ pure power that I had) Cheers, gav.
Guest Crystara Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Wow that's a big call over the AP2, you could get yourself ostracized on some forums for a comment like that, thank goodness we are good ole folk on this site. I will look into these two thanks Gavtron

I will look into these two thanks Gavtron haha - I know my impression is a bit out of step with others, I guess I should state my reasoning - I just found the AP2 to have a slight digital sound, and vocals on my setup seemed a bit edgy / unnatural - but as you say there are a lot of people that really like them, so it may work out well for you. When I had my AP2 Phil at Audiophilleo was good to deal with when I needed help. Running from battery power helped better the sq too... The best sounding converter I have owned is the Sonic Weld Diverter v1. It is now discontinued and hard to find as not many people want to part with them! The diverter was on a completely different level to all the other units I have tried. It sounded much more like "music" and much less like a "digital recording". People have told me it is on the same level as the off ramp 5, although I have not personally heard the off ramp, it's held in very high regard. There is a new version of the diverter - but at close to $3k I think most people should invest their money in a new DAC with proper USB implementation. You would really need to love your current DAC to spend that much on a converter! There is a good write up on that here. Cheers, gav. Edited July 21, 2013 by gavtron 1

Guest Crystara Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 I am actually leaning now toward the AG 32 or the M2Tech Hiface 32bit USB Dac interesting piece of kit for it's size anyone got one?
