As you all know I have an OPPO 105. The reason I bought this is because the Sony s470 that gets flogged is now having laser read issues and I wanted something where it was a cross between a cdp and a network media player. The OPPO 105 has 3 USB2.0. Can play WAV and FLAC files via a USB flash drive or HDD, however not a full media player. I have loaded CD as WAV lossless files and a few FLAC 24/192 files onto a portable USB 3.0. 1TB WD Element drive. No more loading a CD at all. I load this via a laptop onto a portable HDD and then connect the HDD via USB. To navigate you have to use a monitor, but OPPO has just released an app for the Apple iPad. The beauty of this is that you don't need a monitor, its WIFI and once the app is loaded the navigation can be done on the iPad, this includes all your functions of your remote control that includes volume control! So the ease of controlling the OPPO 105 with a HDD is real easy to get around and as far as I'm concern has advantages over the remote via a monitor. Here are some pics of the iPad screen;

I use my 105 the same way, connected by usb to a 2tb HDD crammed with FLAC files, my only gripe would be that it's not usb3.0.

The apps (iOS and Android) web links don't show the file lists you have shown in post #1. They only show it looking like a virtual replication of the Oppo remote control. So your post is useful additional information and looks like it can be used to replace the need for a monitor -- thanks!

Does it allow you to make and sequence a playlist? Or is it limited simply to search in the file structure on your HDD, and play in the sequence displayed from a starting song of your choice?

I reckon they have the two apps confused on the website - one is a remote only app and the other is the song player.

I think i have seen elsewhere that the OPPO does not do playlists, but I could be wrong.

I have a 93 - the app is suited to a 103 /105 but doesn't work on 1 93/95.  I have a niece (in Adelaide) with a 103, and I suspect she (I?) will be installing the app soon!  If so, I'll let you know how it goes.

to me the app just provides the signals to the OPPO, it doesn't change the functionality.

There is a random and repeat function, and something about playlist with blue buttons which I have never used/succeeded in getting anywhere with.
