Gosh that's a blast from the past I remember playing with them at the landsdown hotel in early nineties when I was still in school

Possibly, it wouldn't hurt that old farts like me who were into that stuff back in the day are now fast approaching, or well into their 40's.

Lots of dudes in that age group are desperately trying to recapture their youth and have plenty of disposable cash (not me though)

They are in Wollongong :-)

I know they were from there.  Are they still there as a band ?  Not possible surely !

I'm well into my 40s and don't have much disposable now either.

Was really into these guys early stuff along with DIG (Directions In Groove) and The Porkers at the same time.

I dont even want to think about all the great Australian bands who played on recovery etc whose vinyl would be worth some decent money now....

I just remembered I recently saw the spiral bound Weed Seed cd ep in Dixons for about $50, and their prices are usually spot on

what is it with old Tumbleweed fans and spotty memories?

Posted

^  old 'weed ?

I don't remember the spiral bound but I still have the S/T US Import compilation album and the paper/card sleeve CD single Acid Rain / Funky.

^ That Proton Energy Pills EP must be worth even more.

Come to think of it I had a Tumbleweed disc I can't find now.

It had Bill Cosby type little kid voices between the tracks along the lines of:  "Let's form a band"......."We need a gimmick"..............."If we all had long hair that would be a gimmick"........

My collection is quite small so if it's here I should be able to find it.  IF it's here..........

Does anyone know what sort of packaging I should be looking for or what it's called ?

G'day Ean,

I too have a nice copy of the Tumbleweed EP bought back in the day - the ebay price surprised me but a check on popsike indicates that the $100 is not a once off but is a bit more than what they appear to usually sell for (seems to be an easy $70-$80 thing). I've also got the spiral bound Weed Seed CD - had no idea that was worth a bit. I haven't listened to them for a few years, must drag them out!

Haven't got the one you are talking about....

Cheers,

Richard

G'Day Richard.

I see now the US Import I have is also called 'Weedseed' on 'Seed Records'.  It is the same as the Oz Weedseed with the addition of Shakedown and Rainbow Waterwillow.  The cassette of it with embossed 'Warners' logo is on ebay for $40.

Nice smooth sound with no harshness and when I ripped it into the PC the numbers show lots of 'headroom'.
