Hi,  I was looking online last night for a wadia 151 at a good price and came across this site which had it listed for $594 which is a great price.  However there were many things about this site which seemed a bit suss.  I may be wrong but before i part with my cash has anyone heard of a site / store called     music studioequip.  www.musicstudioequip.com . If you know of this store and have dealt with them previously please let me know, as they have some really good prices which are a lot cheaper than everywhere else.   Cheers guys

Hmm, doesn't seem to be any SSL on the website for password protection, that can be a warning.

 

Not sure about the prices etc.  I would want feedback from people who had successfully purchased there.

 

Also if you check google maps street view the contact address 90 Botany Road, Alexandria NSW shows as Allans/Billy Hyde.  Now they went bust I think, someone could have located to the premises but not sure.

 

You could ask a Sydney person to drive by and check it out.

Wadia list Synergy as the distributor (although I can't see Wadia listed on the Synergy site!). What you should be doing is contacting the local distributor to see if that store is an authorised dealer.

I think you'll find that listing is quoting 75W as the "dynamic power", AFAIK there is only one Wadia 151 model and that is 25W into 8Ohms and 50W into 4.

True , that's strange.

It seems they are all mini.

The site does seem a bit suss...

They don't seem to have an Australian Business Number under that name, either.  Although that does not prove anything about them, the weight of evidence strongly suggests that the bargain is not a bargain, and that you should look elsewhere.

I was going to say that you're a suspicious and untrusting lot but then a quick Whois lookup showed they're using PrivacyProtect.org to hide who owns the domain.

they seem to have a local aussie street address which is lot more than can say for a lot of other web businesses. 

 

while buying on the web, I would always be carefull. but also we shouldnt necessarily tarnish the place if know nothing about it :)

 

something like this I'd personally buy from a bricks and mortar store. can check it out in person. pay cash/credit card across the counter and that way if a problem can just take it back. ps that by no means requires the bricks and mortar store to be a store as such. have bought before from people operating out their home. I dont think anything wrong wiht that. but yeah still a human have dealt with in person rather than it being purely a web based buying experience.

 

all that said I am pretty sure if you check consumer protection laws your protected by law just as well no matter if you buy from a store or online as long as its from an australian business. if the website is not really run as a business then thats a whole another thing....

This is a scam site do not buy from them. If you do a search on the phone number its listed for a number of so called Australian Businesses including

hot chips kababs ? no problem. Gym ? no problem ? survey equipment, plotter ? no problem...hifi gear ? fishing tackle ? bait ? no problem.

 

uncle arthur probably answer phone. dodgy as hell or got finger in a lot of pies. of the pork variety quite possibly :lol:

I might ring and my conversation would be I'm looking at some gym equipment so I can get fit to buy the massive amp you also seem to have, while I'm at it some friends are going fishing, can't hook me up with a rod and reel can ya at the same time. would appreciate it if I could just get it all off you........ thanks, now obviously you want my credit card   :D
