2013 will be the 7th year running for a regular motley crew to catch up at Bathurst.

What once started out as an idea, is now an annual pilgramage to Terry's house (and his family), where we shall share drinks, tell lies, eat dead animals, fart, burp and generally be obnoxious to each other.

A couple of us may even go watch some cars go 'round and 'round.

And, as always, we will forget to take a group photo whist everyone is there.

From little things, big things grow. *cue Paul Kelly singing*

Someone really should tell Terry we're still coming ;)

86 days to go.

Earle, Paul?

I sure will Simon.

I hope it continues for another 7 years as well, if not more.

When are you coming again?

I hope to visit Los on the way back to Melbourne, but its a big detour.

Be a while before I make it again Graham, first I need to be in the country at the right time of the year so its anybody guess. Do try and call through on Los, those Lenards have to be worth the detour and you get to see some different countryside on the way.

G'day all

Below is a response from the beloved host to all at SNA re the upcoming Bathurst 2013 GtG. BtW, his name is Terry.

Hope to see some of you there, if you can make it.

Graham

AFAIK, if you have to ask, you don't get a gig.

Hi phantom and hyper

just caught this comment about the GTG and would like to address it a bit if that is fine. There are possible interpretations of this comment that don't sit well.

In some very narrow ways the comment is true, but you need to put that into perspective by looking at it from a wider view. As Graham mentioned, this is our seventh year, it started with a bang and has remained popular ever since (what's not to like about a four day weekend with a bunch of mates yappin, tellin tall tales and enjoying music and stereo together?)

BUT, there are only so many beds we can offer on a given weekend. We sleep (and 'feed' and 'wash') an average of twenty to thirty people each year, there are natural limits to what we can do. And, as perhaps can be expected, it is the 'old hands' that have come year after year that get first dibs on their beds for each gtg. Again looks like we have a 'full house' sign up on the front gate.

Sadly, that can lead to a perception of 'if you have to ask..' which in one sense is kinda true but hopefully not so true when you see the background story. This bunch of guys are the most welcoming and friendly bunch you could hope to meet, we'd love to have more but as you might now be able to see there are limits, and we hit them year after year.

What I WOULD like all to know is that it is completely open to 'day trippers' for lack of a better term. That does not help those from far away I know, but it is not a 'closed shop, invitation only' type affair. If you'd like to meet a bunch of SNAers (most from interstate...well at least those from interstate have the beds!) and you'd like to spend a day then please, rest assured that we are not going to shun you!

So apologies if you would have liked to come for the whole weekend (psst, you'd love it!) but sadly it kinda gets booked out real fast. By all means consider a day trip tho, just bring your music and sense of humour. You might get away without the music but you won't get away without t'other. You already know from the thread title it is 'in bathurst' so have a look at your calendar, then the road map, and start planning!

ciao

What happened?

People wanna come.

Disgruntled they can't get a guernsey.

Suggestions of "a closed shop".

An open arms invite is offered.

Nuthin' !

9 1/2 if you need to fill up & drain.

Including the last beer & pie stop @ Uranquinty Bakery (half way), before the non-stop run to Bathurst.

Excepting of course, for the packaged beer & ice stop at Blayney.

Bathurst (both V8s and the real great event down the road) is on my list of things to do one year real soon. Unfortunately neither will be possible for me this year. My inlaws live just up the hill in the Bermuda Triangle of logic/reason/intelligence formerly known as the Blue Mountains so day trips are reasonably practical.

G'day Obiwan

Live music last year & the year before, which also was a cocktail party.

Do I add you to the overnighters list again this year?

I lost track of you.

2 sleeps to go for me.

This is the GtG event of the year, every year. Currently 7th year in a row.

4-days+ of non-stop laughing, farting, BBQing, drinking, banter, & the very occasional critical listening to music.

A couple of us may even go to the track. I know at least 3 of us will ;)

And I get to enjoy my coupe for an interstate sojourn.

I can only imagine what the 10-year event will be like.

Don't expect updates or photos over the weekend, we normally are too pre-occupied with fun-times to be bothered. But, ya never know ya luck...

Don't say you weren't invited, coz you were ;)

Very generous of this host to host so many for the whole weekend and to open invite to 'daytrippers'.

I was in Bathurst for thr FJ Holden Nationals last New Year.  Didn't think about calling in.  Did Terry see a couple of hundred 'Humpies' driving about ?

I'm getting the last of my 'supplies' this morning and then firing up the telly coverage that starts this arvo.

Have a safe trip Graham. Spewing I can't make it this year. Only 366 more sleeps till Bathurst 2014.

Don't forget to grab lunch at Uranquinty bakery

Cheers, Earle.
