Yesterday I picked up a second hand Pro-ject Debut III that I bought from ebay earlier in the week - it is the version with the built in phono stage and USB output. Today I got it set-up and with SWMBO went out and bought some records - The Soul of Melbourne, the new Vampire Weekend and a limited edition of The National High Violet in violet vinyl!

I enjoyed giving them a spin and looking at the artwork/sleevenotes this afternoon - I haven't had or played any vinyl since my early teens.

Now they were, or course, a bit dusty and had lots of static. I need something to clean the dust off before playing and probably to clean dust off the stylus. I remember using a carbon fibre brush 'back in the day' but what's recommended these days.

- This is the type of carbon fibre brush I remember http://www.decibelhifi.com.au/carbon-fibre-brush/

- Decibel also sell this one http://www.decibelhifi.com.au/dc305-record-cleaning-and-antistatic-brush/

- JBhifi (yes I know) had something looking a bit like the second one but also came with some fluid

I don't want to go overboard, I'm just giving myself a taste of the dark side at the moment.

Any advice gratefully received

Cheers

Depends on your budget , I would suggest the extraction approch vacuum. Float with liquid and brush then removal, any form of cleaning is a bonus.

Thanks folks.

Budget fairly small - I didn't pay much for the TT and only have 3 records at the moment (actually 4 I guess as High Violet is a double)

I think I'm going to get one of the double brush type.
