O.Sydney Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 The July 2013 meeting of the Sydney Audio Club sees us once again at Dence Park for an afternoon of fine music and sound and convivial company. Each month, the Sydney Audio Club presents the finest in high end audio systems for our members and guests. It's a bit like a private audio show once a month where you can hear and discuss equipment that you might not otherwise have the chance to audition. And you can bring along your own music to test the capabilities of the system or to just share with like-minded music lovers in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. It’s Vintage/Classic time once again. We had a lot of wonderful vintage gear last year and this year is looking just as good. For our meeting, we are considering anything pre-1995 to be vintage/classic equipment. For the last couple of years the cut-off date has been 1990 – time marches on though so we’ve moved the date a bit. We will have two main systems this year. Some of the components include: - a Pioneer SA-7500 amp - a Pioneer SX-1980 receiver - a Sony X555ES CD player - Sony and Tascam DAT machines - a Meridian CD player - an A. R. Sugden & Co. Connoisseur BD1 turntable complete with a SME tone-arm and a Shure V15 Type 3 cartridge - B&W DM 220 speakers - a Pioneer reverb amp from the 70s - a NAD 7240PE receiver - a Transcriptor Hydraulic Reference, with Fluid Arm and Stanton 681eee - Japanese valve amps - various cassette decks - a Reel to Reel deck We’re working on a Japanese theme from source through to speakers for one system. We’ll also have lots of gear on static display as well – such as a pair of B&W DM4 speakers. The second half of the music sessions will be our popular BYO. Members and guests are welcome to offer music to share with us all. So bring along your favourite music on vinyl or CD. (Sorry, we won’t be able to play flash drives or SACD as the players aren’t vintage… yet.) All we ask is that the music and recordings be interesting. We'll ask you to tell us a little about the artist/recording before it is played. Tracks over 6 minutes will be faded out, to give everyone a fair go.Whether you are a novice or a seasoned veteran, you will have the opportunity to listen, learn and share your experiences with others of a similar mind.Members and guests welcome – we are a very friendly club so you don't need to know anyone to join us for an afternoon of fine music and sound. We will welcome you at the door.Venue: Epping Creative CentreAddress: 26 Stanley St, Epping When: Sunday 14th July Doors open 1pmMeeting starts at 2pm Best regards, Tom Waters President Sydney Audio Club www.sydneyaudioclub.org.au tomwaters@sydneyaudioclub.org.au On behalf of Tom and the Sydney Audio club Inc.O.Sydney
