lebowski Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 With no markings on the cabinets. The bass driver looks to be about 12'' I'm guessing they are something from the 70's as they came in a Lot from a Deceased Estate along with Sansui AU-555A, Apan Turntable and a few other bits and pieces. I'd like to know what the drivers and strange looking tweeter are.
Luc Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 I'll be no help to you Mark but my first thought was, 'English'
VanArn Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 Certainly a Philips dome tweeter, possibly Goodmans mid-range drivers from their D.I.N. range;and the bass unit is most likely a Richard Allan unit.A real pot pourri and who knows what recipe was followed for this combination.
lebowski Posted July 6, 2013 Author Posted July 6, 2013 Thank you for your replies. They sure sound OK so I might keep them in the man cave.
planet10 Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 Certainly a Philips dome tweeter Likely an AD0160, a 1" mylar dome tweeter A lot more can likely by had if we could see the back of the drivers. dave
lebowski Posted July 19, 2013 Author Posted July 19, 2013 Looks like VanArn is correct however I could not see any brand markings on the tweeter. Does anyone know if any of these drivers are worth keeping?
Gee Emm Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 There are some out there that find Goodmans et al quite collectable. Place an add on eBay for the individual drivers and see what happens... Graham
Zaphod Beeblebrox Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 There are some out there that find Goodmans et al quite collectable. Place an add on eBay for the individual drivers and see what happens... Graham Agreed. The Richard Allen is likely to be worth a few Bucks.
lebowski Posted July 19, 2013 Author Posted July 19, 2013 Thank you gents. Think I'll keep these and perhaps tackle a DIY speaker build one day. For now they live in some fairly average looking large chipboard cabinets and they do sound OK. Another project on the list.
