Hi folks -

Am getting some rca plugs replaced on my Van den hul 102 hybrid cables (the vdh ones were unreliable) and wanted some recommendations.

The eichmann bullets look good at $65 for 4 but are there lower cost units around that perform similarly?

Has anyone tried the neutrik gold-plated rcas at about $10 a pop? - eg http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEOTECH-Origin-RCA-Plug-8mm-entry-NEW-LINE-RED-/220762457590?pt=AU_Electronics_Accessories_Wires_Cables&hash=item336677c5f6&_uhb=1

Any others worth thinking about?

Thanks!

neotech, not neutrik. eichman would sound better.

The Valab RCAs with the tellurium copper centre pin are supposedly very good for the money. Geoff used these on his Aurealis cables when the Eichmanns were temporarily unavailable and he seemed to be quite impressed.

My personal experience with Gaofei branded components has been very good too. Excellent build quality and their gear appears to be rebranded by other bigger companies at times.

I agree.

Leneham audio cables use Eichman plugs.

Are you reterminating yourself? ETIs can be tricky to get right until you've done a few. I also find that they're great if you 'set and forget' your cables, but if you're constantly changing cables around they can be less convenient than a conventional plug.

Any recommendations on cost no object female RCA sockets?

bocchino silver rca sockets especially if you also use the matching silver rca's.

Yep, tried them, but the response I got was that they had no stock, and that they didn't know when they were likely to have any available!!

good trick here is to actually insert the bullet into the socket you will be using it with before soldering, or after making the cables, attach and hit with a hairdryer for say 10seconds. this will leave them still snug, but fitted to the socket. this way it acts as m=both a heatsink for the soldering, as well as loosening them a tiny bit.

its Jeremy here btw CAM ;) how is ya?

yeah just miserable and cold up here, not much rain. Sounds like its time to get inside with some tunes and a good book. ^_^

on the topic, I have the Bocchino Tomcat RCA sockets, I have a set spare i've been hanging onto as i'm almost exclusively balanced these days, as well as mostly DIY, so i'm using Lemos and Cannons. the bocchino are excellent, but not something you can usually swap in for something else, as like everything Nino does; they are absolutely massive and the washers are too, so spacing can be an issue unless you are building from scratch. Great sockets and great cablemounts too, but youve gotta build around them so to speak. I like the ETI phonopods more than just about everything else, not a big fan of the WBT, too fancy, too buzzword laiden.

Thanks for all the inputs folks - i ended up getting 8 of the neotech for around $8 each - they feel solid, well built and have strain relief.

I am hoping that I will have output if the tech does his soldering properly!
