blinky Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Hi folks, I have a Japanese valve preamp that's 100v...I notice that most step down transformers are listed at 120v, presumably for the American market. Will I do my preamp damage using a 120v model? Are there any that allow 100v as the output. All help, opinions appreciated. Cheers, Bill
pete_mac Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Tortech have a decent range. I have no direct experience with them, however. http://www.tortech.com.au/category/597/
The Fez Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 +1 for Tortech. To be safe I would use a specialist stepdown rated to 100v for the Japanese products. I recently upgraded to a Tortech 1KW 100v stepdown from Tortech. Its an isolated type toroidal trafo. Dead quiet and runs at a constant 100volts.
Guest Muon Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 (edited) I had one made up by Tortech back when I had a little EL84 amp from China that was 220v Went for a 1Kva jobby....over kill I guess, but I thought I may attach more in the future. Great to deal with Edited June 25, 2013 by datafone
