Milo Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 The news is reporting that coach Mickey Arthur has been sacked! Great Ashes preparation!?
Rob181 Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 The wrong coach has been sacked...Robbie Deans should have gone LONG ago...the people management skills of a pit bull...Rob 2
Jone5y Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 I remember when it was the English who had these types of preparations. Key players injured, team disharmony, incomprehensible selections etc, all culminating in getting hammered during the ashes. Not as much fun to see the roles reversed. Still, the role of the coach should be little more than people management when you're playing at such a high level anyway, it seems as though he may be a scapegoat for the current crisis. Only those directly involved in the team would know what he has/hasn't done to contribute to or diffuse whatever is going on within the team atm.
comfortablynumb Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 (edited) Is Boof available ? edit ; just checked the online news. Boof is NOT available. He has a new job....three guesses where. Edited June 24, 2013 by comfortablynumb
jel Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Is Boof available ? edit ; just checked the online news. Boof is NOT available. He has a new job....three guesses where. Actually the News is reporting that Boof has the gig.
wolster Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Not totally surprised by CA's decision after recent happenings. Mickey A also failed as coach of WA. He had the benefit of great players when coaching South Africa. Well, Ian Chappell always says that the team only needs a coach to get to the ground... Don't agree with him. Will be interesting to see who gets the gig. Could be just the 'backs to the wall' situation we need to fire up our motley crew.
Luc Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Nothing will change the fact that it's the worst team we've sent since?... Worst in my lifetime anyway. And Hughes, Jayzuz H christ how long do we have to put up with him, he's just not Test material with his technique and 'Watto' hiding under the bed scared of ghosts...Grrr, get rid of him.
wolster Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Actually the News is reporting that Boof has the gig. Just heard the same thing. Good move IMO.

LogicprObe Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 It was bullcrap having a non Aussie as coach of the national team. That sort of thing might be OK for minor games like soccer etc...........but otherwise, it's just not Cricket!
LogicprObe Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 http://www.abc.net.au/news/2013-06-24/lehmann-named-australian-coach/4777030 New coach Darren Lehmann is confident Australia can win the Ashes despite the upheaval of having former mentor Mickey Arthur sacked a fortnight out from the series opener.Cricket Australia (CA) confirmed the appointment of Lehmann as South African Arthur's replacement on Monday night.CA chief executive James Sutherland and team performance manager Pat Howard announced Lehmann's widely tipped appointment at a press conference in Bristol.
peacewise Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Boof knows plenty about ashes cricket and playing in England, excellent choice.
Milo Posted June 25, 2013 Author Posted June 25, 2013 But what will Boof do if the players don't hand their homework in on time?
LogicprObe Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 But what will Boof do if the players don't hand their homework in on time? Make them shout the bar! 2
Jone5y Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Make them shout the bar! Which is a far more reasonable punishment and more beneficial for all involved :-) in related good news, the ridiculous rotation policy will not be enforced during the ashes test series. Well, its good news unless one of the quicks breaks down and gives the supporters of rotation cause to say "I told you so...
LogicprObe Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 They break down at the nets sometimes! No one can predict when it will happen.
peacewise Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 in related good news, the ridiculous rotation policy will not be enforced during the ashes test series.
