Ian McP
Tom Waits: Foreign Affairs (1977) superbly recorded, cd sounds spine tinglingly great, recorded live to two track tape and it shows! Excellent production due to the expertise of Bones Howe. This in depth article explains how Foreign Affairs and other early Tom Waits' albums were recorded by Bones. https://www.soundonsound.com/people/bones-howe-tom-waits regards Ian
Mutatis Mutandis
If no-one has nominated it yet - I think k.d. lang's "Save Me" from "Ingénue" is a very good test of tone and balance.
Tony@melb
This German album is quite amazing. The album contains a church bell track, a track with squeaky door and people speaking German, classical music, piano track, classical guitar track, singing and the last track is taxing on hi-fi systems - a percussion track with extreme highs and lows and all kinds of percussion instruments together. All of the tracks are superbly recorded. maximus
This is a great debut from this Melbourne based singer, A very angelic, soft folky sound that keeps you focused with all that mid range ambience. POV
Ok, I have stumbled across the most amazing album. It's technofunkadelic electronica, so no doubt not for everyone, but for those that do like electronica it comes with my highest recommendation. Production quality and mastering is off the chart, absolutely incredible 3d soundstage. in my room sound is literally everywhere! Nanosphere - Floating Realms https://tidal.com/browse/album/109857106 If want to dial down to one track, then check out track 3: Swamp Dimension. This is seriously blowing my mind! 2
atya
For Philip Glass or orchestral fans. The below track inspire awe for me. Possibly best to sit through the first 3 tracks and let it build, but if you’re impatient and just want to get to the exciting bits, start with the 3rd track. Album: Stravinsky & Glass: Violin Concertos Available for streaming via Qobuz and Tidal. Prepare to be pummeled by your speakers / headphones. There is some superbly produced electronic music out there.

Guest niterida
Try Radiohead : The National Anthem or Chemical Brothers : Das Spiegel Both of them will test the very best system. They are harsh and unlistenable on inferior systems - if you can get through both songs without your ears bleeding , head exploding or going insane, then you have a great system
