Took a drive out to Semaphore this afternoon, so went to pop in at Mr V, but the store was empty. My heart started to sink, as I contemplated the likelihood of another well regarded music outlet biting the dust, until I noticed the sign on the door which said they have moved down the street to no 115 Semaphore Road (I think that is the right number). So, went for a bit of wander, and found them relocated next to the garden centre. Must say that I like the new premises. Much more spacious than the old place. Everything is well laid out and clearly labelled. CDs are placed in racks around the walls, while the vinyl is placed in the centre of the room. Everything is at the same level, which makes browsing easy (no need to crouch down and rummage through boxes under the cabinets any more!). The sales desk is at the back end of the store. Apparently, the move was forced on them because the owner of the old premises didn't want to renew their lease, for reasons unknown. Not sure how this will affect their trade. On the one hand they are further away from the main foot traffic along Semaphore Road, but the new store has a much more appealing layout, which encourages one to browse. I guess that their loyal customers/browsers will seek out the new location fairly quickly. They have only been in the new premises for about a week, so the new address wouldn't have found its way into yellow pages etc. yet.
