Saxon Hall Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 (edited) A most interesting and enjoyable event this evening. The Tivoli staff were all knowledgeable and friendly. There were also several representatives from various manufacturers in attendance . All the listening rooms were in use and some very nice gear was singing along. There was a helpful chap from Vienna Acoustics demonstrating one of their loudspeakers which seemed to have a formidable presence notwithstanding the slim and attractive form factor of the units in question. I also very much enjoyed listening to some Wilson Sasha's which impressed me greatly with the tight controlled bass that they produced. I was enjoying the music, the excellent nibbles and fine wine too much to actually pay attention to what was actually powering them but I am sure some more observant people would know. All in all a pleasant evening and always very nice to put a face to a name or avatar and meet in person. Once again thanks to Tivoli and to Marc for organising the event. Great to meet up with some familiar faces, new faces and some havent met up in a long time ! Some really nicely setup rooms and lovely gear. and we were kept well plied with tasty *** bits that came around plus the wine and beers served. So busy talking and meeting up everyone and checking the stuff out I only took a couple of pics. very much enjoyed the live music and great to see the 802D's in their main room didnt get a picture of their smallest room but probably most liked the sound from it tonight, they had some martin logans fed by and arc amp and ps audio dac and power supplies etc. excellent stuff

warrengday Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Many thanks to everyone who put this great evening together: Marc, everyone from both Tivoli and the various distributors, plus the girls Chrisi etal for graciously serving the delicious food and enjoyable wines. So much kit. And lots of it plugged in too! From Tivoli radios to top spec stuff like the Wilson Audios and the B&W 802Ds seen above. I love the huge home cinema projector. Twas a good selection of vinyl as well (don't go and buy any I want to go and have another rummage This was a pure mutual social evening, no pressure to buy, just to build friendly relationships in this some what solitary hobby. Lots of great people, more rooms than I found, plus engaging live Jazz.
evil c Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Fabulous night, fabulous people who I universally would welcome to my home! Thanks & kudos goes to Marc and all involved with a special mention going to the food seductresses- I couldn't say no to their "wares"!( popped pant button syndrome) Cheers, Clive.
ZEN MISTER Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Can I add my thanks for a wonderfully relaxed evening. Well done team!! ZM.
Guest Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 I had a most enjoyable evening. It was so great to meet many of you for the first time. Everyone was so friendly and willing to introduce themselves so if you were one of them, thanks for taking the time to seek me out and say hello. To the others I didn't get to meet, I dare say we will get the opportunity again soon. Many kinds words were expressed to me tonight and I'm truly grateful to all of you. Very tired, after staying back a little and finishing off all the food and wine you lot left behind! More tomorrow, along with pics, a few more words, and of course the announcement of the door prize winners which were drawn personally by me blindly (no reference to the consumption of alcohol!) from a box, and witnessed by Tivoli staff and SNA member Sierra late this evening. Thanks again gents. A great evening and I know Tivoli certainly enjoyed hosting us all.
Addicted to music Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 I dealt with the staff at Tivoli HiFi several months ago, great bunch, really make you feel welcome, got an unexpected guided tour around the store by one of the guys assisting me with a possible purchase, so I can just imagine how the evening went; the hospitality would have been 2nd to none!
agelessgoodguy Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Top marks to Geoff and Marc for organising well co-ordinated SNA GTG at our hosts for Night Tiviloi Hi-Fi in Camberwell. Nothing wasn't done to make our evening shine, with great gear and special bargain prices scattered around the "used gear" room upstairs (note to self get back in there soon) . Thank you one and all, appreciated the late entry Geoff.
Volunteer sir sanders zingmore Posted June 6, 2013 Volunteer Posted June 6, 2013 I'll add my voice of thanks here. Excellent job by all in putting this on. One thing I realised was that the ability to sit and listen to various setups with no sales pressure at all is exactly the experience I always have at Tivoli. That counts for a lot in my book
djb Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 Most enjoyable Not all the usual suspects Well there was me mr happy pants al Holden ..... But lots new too Didn't even need to catch the train and tram home
wadiaman Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 Congratulations to Marc and Geoff & theTivoli team for organising and hosting such an excellent event. The vibe and mood of the crowd was very congenial helped by the wine, great food and cool live jazz. It was fun listening to the B&W 802 driven by Electrocompanniet electronics. The synergy seemed to be excellent. The Wilson Sashas powered by Audio Research sounded extremely fine, especially memorable was Eric Clapton 'I shot the sheriff', sounding fabulous despite probably being just an 'average' recording. And I agree with Holdencaulfield2007 that the Vienna Acoustics / Primare setup certainly punched above it's weight. Thanks again to all involved.

Mark and Tivoli Team a most sincere and heartfelt thank you for organizing and hosting an excellent event and entertaining everyone in such a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. It was great seeing everyone from previous events and a wonderful opportunity to enjoy meeting new SNAers and be able to put a face to many of the names I interact with…

LFD Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 ...but did anyone buy any bloody thing?? I can vouch that at least one item was purchased (not be me). Thanks all for organising; and it was great to meet you Marc. Went into the room with the Sasha a few times, WHY DO PEOPLE HAVE TO PLAY THINGS SO LOUD! It was really way too bright for me. The Maggies in the next room was the setup of the night ...so "effortless"... 1

buddyev Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 Thanks to all the guys at Tivoli — you really are an obliging bunch. Like someone else said, this was the usual relaxed no-pressure service I've always had here. Nice tucker as well
Guest Misterioso Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 Went into the room with the Sasha a few times, WHY DO PEOPLE HAVE TO PLAY THINGS SO LOUD! I did not want to bring this up here, but I completely agree. I was looking forward to spend the whole evening at Tivoli but left after half an hour because it was just way too loud for my taste. I had tinnitus in the past which is now pretty much under control. Would I have stayed, my ears were ringing today. I thought that's my personal problem but it seems others also don't enjoy the high volume.
Guest Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 It can be difficult catering for everyone's requirements with a group this size I imagine. I overhead some say they wanted to hear the systems at their potential as well, indicating it wasn't loud enough. This is one of the downsides of large group get togethers unfortunately. That said, it was nice and quiet downstairs mingling and socialising - you didn't need to leave. By all means though, I am sure the guys would welcome you back in your own time for a private audition and demonstration at just the listening volume you would prefer. Drop in and see them when convenient.
jimsan Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 Hi all, Glad everyone had a great time, Geoff, Andrew and myself had a wonderful time and it was a real pleasure putting everything together for everyone and it couldn't have happened without Marc, so thank you to each and everyone that came.
