poiu Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Hi - any suggestions on a contact for repair and recap on a perreaux 2150b power amplifier in perth? I see a couple of old threads on repairs but was hoping for some new ideas on good work at a reasonable price?
LogicprObe Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 The price is going to depend on what's wrong with it.
Anthony1 Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Caps are generally available, I have wiring diagrams, everything is accessible, main switch is vulnerable, check the 4? fuses. Hope you can locate a good tech locally. Have N.Z. Techs to ask if serious. Good luck. Anthony
LogicprObe Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 And how come you are asking about Perth when it says you are in NSW?
poiu Posted June 6, 2013 Author Posted June 6, 2013 And how come you are asking about Perth when it says you are in NSW? Amp is with a friend in dunsborough. I didnt think the call out for a perreaux tech in dunsborough was going to be bowled over with responses. I am aware the cost may vary, just thought someone in perth might have a contact who knows their mosfets. It goes in the bin before its shipped to NSW/NZ and shipped back. Will check the fuses first, thx Tony1. 1

Gordon Macfarlane Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 2ND the recco for Jason. He works on a lot of hi-end gear and has a very good rep.
Omegaspeedy Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 (edited) The guys at Perreaux might be able to give you advise and they are pretty good dudes. Flick them an e-mail. Depending on the symptoms they might know exactly whats wrong and point you in the right direction. Edited June 9, 2013 by Omegaspeedy
djb Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 Are there any guys at perreux ? Is the label reborn? Didn't it disappear in 90's?

Leinster Lad Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 Finally got my Perreaux's to Jason Boyd to work some magic on them. ( via drop off at Douglas HiFi ) The PMF3150 had some dc voltage (offset) on the outputs. Hopefully it's just the differential pair that needs replacing. There were also a couple of service mods to do to the main boards. The SM3 just needs a good look at and tweak. Jason said that there were some mods that could be done to sweeten up the phono stage. Hopefully all will be good and I'll have the "beast" and his "master" back in service in time for the Xmas parties ! it's going to be great !! 1
Leinster Lad Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Update..... Both amps are back and sounding fantastic. A really big thankyou to Jason for a great job within a reasonable time frame and cost. 3

A really big thankyou to Jason for a great job within a reasonable time frame and cost. Once you get a couple hours on the SM3 it will really open up. Jason did a fantastic job pimping my SM2.
