Blues 22...Knuckledraggers 21

Posted

QLD have an X factor of high tribalism and playing the victim of discrimination, that NSW will never overcome no matter what they do. They wear the mantle of hate with pride all year, not just at Origin time.

TBH I don't mind who wins but I wouldn't put any money on the Blues until Smith, Cronk, Slater, Meninga and Thurston are in a nursing home aged 92.

I find it ironic, that NSW seem to start favourites every bloody year.

I mean WTF.......they could have been wiped 3 zip the previous year, and yet, the following year with much the same teams opposing each other,  the Blues start favourites. Is it arrogance?

Would love to know, but actually hope it keeps happening,  it just helps motivate the maroons. :D

Arrogance, or maybe just naive optimism, and desperately trying to break the spell. Probably a combination of all of the former. Keeps it interesting, though ;)

All the 'cliche's' have been coming out all week!

NSW are 'relaxed' ! So what!

'We aren't thinking about the game until game day' Bullshit!

The talk about keeping the 'same' side so they can build upon their previous series and have a comraderie (like QLD)!  New coach, new five-eigth, as well as a few other debutons! What's wrong with last series roster? They only lost the series by a whisker! A bounce of the ball was all that was the difference in the end!

That's the spirit NSW, keep changing every year and make sure you don't win a series!

Exactly.

Compared to QLD they don't even have a concept of camaraderie. QLD play like a band of brothers

Bzzzzt.

it's not about me at all mate.

It's about the faux victim tag that QLD does so well.

I might skip calling you a name though if that's cool

State of Origin to me is the highlight of the sporting year.

For me, it's far and away the best yearly sporting event staged anywhere, and I love getting caught up in it all at this time of year.

I just have so many great memories of being on the hill at Lang Park throughout the 80's, can't believe the noise that a crowd of mostly maroon supporters can generate. :P

And I always take sickies from work if rostered to work on Origin night, how could you miss it?

Feel free. I've heard 'em all before. And no, I'm not taking your bait. Neither is anyone else, yet :P

We don't class ourselves up here as victims mate, but any motivation is good motivation. :P

Sorry RH.

I just don't understand what the issue is. From my end there is no problem at all.

You may choose to believe it or not.

Edit: seems like Soundfan took my post in the right spirit, as was intended. :)

Problem? Where? Hand me another xxxx

Edit: hmmm I think he just handled it better than me, Soundfan being the consummate gentleman. Me on the other hand; I call it as I see it.
