georgepapa Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Hi There I'm trying to convert a DVD into a single MPEG-4 file via Handbrake. When I scroll trough the Video TS folder I see there are sometimes up to three large files which all must be queued if you are to process the entire movie. I end up with parts 1,2 and 3 of the movie in a folder which is not what I want. How do I consolidate this TS video files into one file? Is there a program more suited to this task?
BATMAQN Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 (edited) You need to select the entire folder and then from the source box in Handbrake you need to select the title you want to encode Handbrake will find the files it needs, usually the longest timewise is the one to pick it can be trial and error sometimes they have multiple copies like directors narratives so always check after encoding to make sure you got the one you want. Handbrake is one of the best free ones available it does like a powerful computer though also there are some very comprehensive tutorials on the net I found once I read these Handbrake isn't difficult to use. Good luck Edited June 5, 2013 by BATMAQN
georgepapa Posted June 5, 2013 Author Posted June 5, 2013 Thanks, however i don't believe Handbrake has the ability to actually merge or combine 2 video files into one. george
Luc Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 I have a 'Handbrake' and she's never ever had the ability to merge/combine/consolidate/queue or listen...but I have ended up with 1-2-3- and 4 parts that I don't know what to do with or use... and if there is a programme that works to control the Handbrake I'm yet to see it... * Yeah I know: A completely superfluous post but I couldn't resist it. It's not often I see my Missus mentioned outside of the usual notices that mention that contact with this particular [enter whatever you wish here contagion/virus/extreme menace with intent] 'thing' could damage your health and/or your pocket/and or other parts of your life. ** Grab this and see how you go, it's pretty easy to use and I've done DVD's with it with ease in to several formats.>>>>>ImgBurn 1
A J Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 I was confused too as I'm having a few issues with my handbrake - if I gave her handful of files I expect I would get a box round the ears - the real one hurts but the metaphorical one is a bit of fun.
BATMAQN Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 No it doesn't merge separate files it's main use is ripping dvds and converting those files so they are smaller I use Aimersoft to merge files together successfully.
georgepapa Posted June 6, 2013 Author Posted June 6, 2013 No it doesn't merge separate files it's main use is ripping dvds and converting those files so they are smaller I use Aimersoft to merge files together successfully. Are you using the dvd ripper or video converter from Aimersoft?
sean Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Hmmm, when I read the title to this thread I was wondering if you were referring to your wifey. Obviously not. And I can't help with any advise either, sorry!

BATMAQN Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Are you using the dvd ripper or video converter from Aimersoft? DVD ripper no I don't think it gets past the encryption. video convertor yes it's very good.
Telecine Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 Ordinarily Luc could help with advice about how to deal with the handbrake but he is under a bit of pressure since he bought a herd of vintage amps ; )
djb Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 Sean seems to be implying that he could give advice re the more universal hand brake Perhaps he could enlighten us?
Leon Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 Maybe try Makemkv to extract as one mkv file, then Handbrake to convert to the format you need.
Dolphy Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 I was playing around with DVD shrink yesterday and you can re-auther a DVD and select out as single file. Just change the extension from VOB to MPEG and then you'll probably be able to get Handbrake to do it's job.
georgepapa Posted June 11, 2013 Author Posted June 11, 2013 Downloaded Ultimate Video Converter by Aimersoft. Does everything i wanted it to do and so much simpler than Handbrake. Thanks BATMAQN

Guest Muon Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 I read the title and thought this was related to the little lady standing in the way of audio progress Gee, I haven't used that program (handbrake) in years.
Racette0h Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 AppGeeker lets you do this as well. As for ripping DVD files, I use its DVD Ripper, gets full quality and keep all the subtitles special features etc. See: How to Rip DVD to MP4 on Mac OS X and Windows Never had problem with it. And its video converter allows you to merge several small parts of files to a single large one, and supports split function.
