Am arranging to buy some new S4700 JBL's from Brissy, am so very excited!!

It's a long time since I purchased any decent hi fi gear and this is going to do me for as long again but it is really special. :)

I just had to share, rant over, haha.

Poor old Bose Studiocraft 1000's, late 80's bangers. They have been thoroughly used and abused, my kids thought the drivers dust covers were big buttons when they were little and promptly pushed them all in one day when I was at work (yes, they discovered they could pull the four cloth screens off). I nearly died. Fixed them carefully with some sharp wire...then my nieces and nephews did the same thing. They have been blasted all night, had stuff spilt on them, been moved a hundred times.

They have been great, just awesome. I will one day put some new drivers in them and they will be a great shed system.

I now have a grandson.

My lovely daughter has been advised that I do adore my little grandson but he shall pass from this earth swiftly if he even so much as enters my living room alone, hahaa!!

Oh. They're on little risers. Interesting.

Yes, I had a listen to them last Friday up at Trimera. hadn't listened to horns before, I really liked them, I am mostly stuff from Sarah Blasko to Maiden. All sounded good. My reference CD's were Piece of Mind (very crusty) right through to Tool's 10,000 days (very polished). They had more low down grunt and all round presence than the 1028 Be Focals I was comparing them with but weren't as intricate, IMO. However, I liked them the most, so there you go. :)

Wow nice, they look a very interesting speaker, I have just been drooling over some JBL's on HiFiDo. What will be driving them?

Wow!  Thats a huge upgrade.  Enjoy!

Choosing speakers is always a personal, subjective choice but I know what you mean about the Focals.  Brilliant treble, good mids and the bass goes deep enough but just a little lean, somehow.

Oh, the Berylium tweeter is something magical, for sure. You cant un-hear something, haha. Bass was a bit too sterile for me. Would like to hear some 1038's though.

Just purchased a big Gecko Bilby hi fi stand to go with the speakers, oh my poor credit card, it groans under the weight! Fun is all over, must clear all before Phillip Island MotoGP in Oct!!

Such a hard life, hahaa.

Yes, have priced a rug that I want, $1k. A big-un.

This might sound funny considering all the awesome Hi Fi gear that I have there now but I am really happy with that Gecko unit. ;)
