I have a UPS for my business equipment and have run the audioPC from it to no benefit.  Many UPS's regulate the voltage as well as provide a backup in case of power failure where it is beneficial to have your hard drives spin down and your equipment shut down gracefully.  In my experience a UPS brings nothing to digital audio.  They are generally slower acting supplies based on older battery technology and there is opinion from ears that I trust that slower reacting supplies can restrict dynamics especially when applied to the digital source or amplifier.

UPS may cause issues because some of them creates a sine wave that is not good for sound. My simple understanding is that a cheap ups will do more harm than good.

Most inexpensive UPS create electricity by square waves/  That is what you don't want. Actually a UPS designed for audio equipment would put out sine waves.

I use a cheap APC UPS just for my NAS box.  This is to protect the music files and other data in case of power outage, and to shutdown the NAS gracefully.

I would not see any benefit connecting to the music source/player eg Mac Mini in my case.  As pointed out by previous posters it may in fact have a negative impact, but definitely no positive benefits on sound. IMHO
