well I'm excited. I forgot about the ballot, and missed the initial tickets, but scored a couple today - 2nd row!  - they just released a few extras.  Going to the very last show of the series - Tour de France. Would have preferred Computer World, but I think they'll do 3 or 4 from that album in the 2nd part of the show. The last few loud guitar type gigs I've been to have bored me senseless - I reckon this will be fun.

and thats what I was playing at home. Computer World is a bit amazing... to think it predates "cock-rock" and "hair metal" of the early eighties. what were they thinking!

I'm 'just a little bit' excited. I was in Dusseldorf 2 weeks after they played there, and left London the night that they played at the Tate so I'm really pleased that they are playing as close as Sydney. We fly up tomorrow and I'm seeing 'Trans Europa Express' and 'Man Machine' on Saturday night. Here's a photo of the entrance to Kling Klang Studios in Dusseldorf. It's above a garage in a street full of bars and brothels :)

My grandson loves dancing to the Robot Song and I enjoy listening.

Only have the one LP. Will explore further.

Saw them live here in Perth a couple of years ago,for global dance ( I think) it was called, they were awe sum, music was incredibly loud yes not distorted and crisp. Would love to see the 3D show.

Kraftwerk FTW! For vinyl lovers that don't already have them, the Mute reissues are superb. Get them.

We went to Autobahn on Friday night and it was great. Have to say I was disappointed in the SQ though tbh. Come to think about it, there is not much I have seen at the SOH which has impressed me for SQ.

Off to see TDF on Monday, and then Cloud Control later in the week.

Kraftwerk was absolutely fantastic last night at SOH!  They played the Man Machine album in its entirety PLUS all the other main singles from their catalogue including tour de france, computer world, computer love, techno pop, radioactivity, autobahn and others.

They played for almost 2 hrs - the overall presentation, video, 3-d effects and SQ were outstanding.

I've never heard electronic music with as good SQ as i did last night - the electronic sounds were pin-point accurate, a number of songs eg techno pop had surround effects and often caught you unawares.

Here's a sample video from london which was similar to what they did last night - imagine spacestations zooming into you in 3-d!

I'll now have to try and track down a few of the remastered vinyls to complete my collection.

I saw both concerts last night. TEE was amazingly good although we were sitting in the back stalls right at the top and there was almost no bass. The 3D AV show was excellent, clearly Kraftwerk don't come from a US musical tradition, there was no leaping about the stage, it was more akin to a classical performance as far as the musician's approach to the performance went. After the interval we found out seats for Man Machine, we were in the 4th row from the front!!! We had a very different perspective and sitting in the near-field the sound was stupendously good, the best sound since Leonard Cohen at Rochford Winery but much much louder and by far the best bass from any concert system - tight, clean, extended. The music was in surround sound too. Man Machine was the better concert, the crowd were even more enthusiastic, the band played an encore. Many people turned up in Man Machine outfits: black pants, red shirt, black tie.

I have to say SQ at the opera house has been exceptional for Vivid. I saw Omar S play in the studio last night and it was fantastic, anywhere in the room (and you could still chat if you needed to). My only issue has been volume for gigs down the front in the main concert hall, pressure levels way too high at the sides (Sounds of the South suffered from this).  Kraftwerk varied a lot depending on where you were seated, but in the top section middle 5 seats back was perfect, 6 channels of surround were very clear.  3D visuals made the front just as much fun however, just a touch too loud.
