I have been thinking about building a pair of supertweeters with enclosures matched to my current floorstanders that I am currently refurbishing, however I am having trouble finding tweeters that extend much beyond 20,000hz

So far the most suitable I have found has been a set of beston RT002A ribbons that claim to extend into the 40,000hz range http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?partnumber=277-112

Can anyone recommend anything else? surely there must be a better variety than this.

RAAL ribbons are stunning. The small 70/10 give a beautiful high end respond beyond what a young ear can handle.

Several members are running the Townsend super tweeter also.

A "supertweeter" that only goes to 20KHz cannot be called, IMO, a "supertweeter" ... it's just a tweeter. :P

I would also not class tweeters that go up to 40KHz as "supertweeters" ... as my Maggie ribbons are specced to 40KHz and some people put supertweeters on top of them!   So, IMO a "supertweeter" goes to well beyond 40KHz.  I wouldn't have thought you should need to do this but, as I said, some Maggie owners do ... so the benefit must be hearable. :)

Andy

That's exactly why I have asked here lol, in my searches the best I could find was 40,000hz and I knew that wasn't enough.

If you are interested in the 70/10 let me know. I have a pair with less than an hour on. They are stunning and only looking to sell as I may get some GOTO tweeters

Have a look at the Aurum Cantus G2si - I've bought several pairs from Final Link (who can supply them cheaper than the big US discount suppliers) and they work very well. I'm using one pair rolled in at 12k on top of Spendor SP1s and my mate is using a stacked pair with his BG RD75 ribbon/Genesis active bass system (with Meitner DAC & transport/Conrad Johnson Premier 8s) and they have made substantial improvements to both systems for a relatively low cost.

regards,

Nigel.
