Hi all, just looking for some advice from a relative vinyl newbie.

I have a 3 week old Project Debut Carbon tt with a Ortofon 05e(?) cart, connected to a Denon 2802, phono in, no preamp.

The issue I'm having is that my amp seems to be displaying anomalies when playing records. On most occaisions I get no sound for a good 10 mins or so. For instance, I put a record on this morning, and it would have played 3/4 of the way through before the sound kicked in properly. I did notice however that at the start of the record if I cranked the amp to max I did get some sound, but no where near what it should output. (Maybe the tt is just skipping the crappy songs... ;) ) I did have to get the amp repaired a couple years ago due to a common fault on the board, dont know if this would have any bearing.

Anyway, any enlightenment would be appreciated.

Cheers

If the denon doesn't do that with other sources then it is either the phono stage or the turntable.  Can you test out the TT on another amp?

Other sources work fine, eg htpc, dvd, optical etc. Dont have another amp to test with atm, but am hoping to grab an old AWA 80's brick that sounds pretty good from memory in a couple of weeks. I will investigate further scenarios in the meantime.

Cheers

Where abouts in QLD are you?  If you're around Bris I have an amp you can borrow to test things out.  I'm in Calamvale.
