@joz @Jakeyb77_Redux Should organise a drive day cruize followed by a GTG night ;) I might actually do that later in the year for about a dozen driving/hifi enthusiasts, a weekend perhaps. I know some very decent driving roads that wind through the Grampians, lots of fun and zero traffic 😎

Don't know if whoever comes would keep up though 😜

Are hatches/hot hatches still a bit girlie or is that old thinking???

Definitely old thinking, and I’m sure they go like the clappers and corner like on rails, but I still prefer a big thundering V8 .

Yeah I also love the V8 breed. I'm actually thinking 5 cylinder turbo, the Audi RS3. I saw it comes in both sportback and sedan hence the question.

As mentioned much earlier, I would buy Kia Cerato GT sedan if I am buying a new car now

been on a couple of fantastic drives recently. The last one was amazing . Took my youngest son. He said the only thing to hang onto we’re his balls, as he crushed them through the cornering.
Other than on the track I had never driven so fast through the twisties . From the Dandenongs, Yarra Valley and up around Eildon. Blew my mind. With some of the crew.FC518A89-9B36-4F03-BCD0-33D2D609B8FD.thumb.jpeg.5efe9299a08f2f06ef0ecf9bddfda1ab.jpeg

Try reading a few reviews on the Renault Megane RS280, or better still take one for a drive. 0-100 in 5.8s, low profile tyres and suspension, and tight 4WS will get you reconsidering your position...

nah mate, a good one goes like weeeee!

Yeah just was thinking what the attitude was towards them. We (my wife) has a new Focus ST so yeah I know they go hard. Just trying to decide what to get myself....

If you want the best hot hatch (and can live with the styling) then it can only be the Civic Type R.  Has been said by a number of reviewers that it is what Porsche would make if making a GT3 hot hatch.  May be hard finding one though and the new one is coming soon with what appears a little toned down styling and big strides in interior design (but also probably big increase in price).

Yeah the Type R is on the list for sure. I actually kinda like the bold styling. It’s actually why I don’t like the Golf R, it’s boring looking for the money. Too under done IMO.

the previous gen civic does grow on you. it still looks strange in some angles, but i no longer hate it as much as i did when it first came out. infact i like it even more than the new toned down facelift design.

Datsun 1600 and or Skyline R32 GTS-T. I have never spent money on cars and these are now far too expensive. Glad I got to drive them and be a happy passenger in them when younger.

Unfortunate the stereotype given to both among certain circles. Such fun cars

Hi All,

The second car I purchased in 1973, a Valiant VJ R/T Charger, E 38, purchased from a chap who updated to the E49 because of the 4 speed gearbox that became available, but ~80km/h in first, 135km/h in second, 190Km/h+ in third. It was the same colour as the one pictured below, and was a very good car for touring.

Yes Please! What absolutely brilliant motors the six cylinder Hemi’s were.

Torque and power with their own distinct exhaust noise. Those three speeds transmissions were not the best fun however, clipping reverse on the first to second change was often felt, heard, when rushing a change. Certainly worth the investment moving to the 4speed single rail, but even in the day it cost a motza due to the different main shaft than the Ford units.

Personally even with the torsion bar front end I always thought they handled better than the same era Fords and Holden’s. As you say, just great tourers. Those wheels are just perfect for the body shape. Best looking car ever produced in Australia in my opinion.

I guess this would be on my hit list. Ford GT40 in Gulf colours. Given they are unobtainium a replica would have to do. This is in fact a replica with some serious $ spent on it. I really, really should have driven this car...
