If you could afford any car?

I have too many cars on my dreaming list to even begin to find only one or two.

The trouble is, I'm not a car collector and no matter what the price, it would have to be something that was satisfying/thrilling/practical to drive on my local roads.

Even the car I've got (another "it's now or never" purchase:D) can only be 'pushed' on the twistiest of roads without licence troubles.<sigh> First world problems.:classic_sad:

List 5 or 6 then :) Sounds like my tastes, has to be great to drive. Plenty of feedback, performance and looks. My Focus ST is very nice up and own the Grampians ;)

With endless money to spend on dream cars I’d still keep my HSV 15th Anniversary Clubsport, only 105 made and I doubt there would be too many left in existence. It might just be a hotted up Commodore but I still think the VX shape is the best. I bought it new and it is 20 years old next year, how time flies.

Ahh I see. Yeah I’ve cracked 6 and a boat so totally get your point. We’re moving to a farm in the next two years so it won’t be a problem. Be hard to do in the city.

If limited to just one car in the garage.

Audi RS6. Relatively discrete looks, a wagon with lots of room for cargo and dogs, AWD. Comfortable and goes ok too.

Nice car, the HSV brand I know very well...

Personally the VY Clubsport R8 in Martini-Green purchased new at the time is my favourite shape, still have it as well.

Very nice, looks in excellent condition, not much difference between the VX and the VY, the VY is a little more squared off compared to the rounded VX.

Three pages and all the cars I love have been named.

1. Porsche 911 Turbo S

2. McLaren 765LT

3. Mercedes AMG E63 S

4. Bentley Continental GT Speed

5. Chev C8

6. Honda Civic Type R

7. Totota Yaris GR

8. Toyota Corolla GR

9. Audi RS6 Avant

10. Ford Focus ST/RS

I've been trying to like the Nissan GTR but I just can't warm to it. Don't know why but never had any love for them. Bloody fast cars though.

Its funny how many affordable cars in this list, when the topic is if you could afford any car!

Sure Kia's are good value cars but we are kinda missing the point of the question, no? (not picking on Kia's please dont shoot, just using them as an example).

As an 80's kid - 288 GTO. Right balance of masculine and feminine styling and a right handful. Not been in one, I doubt I ever will sadly!

but you kinda are.
My car, the one I pictured above, cannot even be used at its full potential on roads daily without getting me in extreme trouble with the law, so why would I buy my dream car, a 911 Turbo S if my Stingere power is pointless.

Nothing wrong with Kia's! South Korea produces very good cars. I own a new Ssangyong Musso Ultimate and it's just amazing. I test drive nearly every 4x4 and nothing come close for the price.

I'm in the same boat re full potential with the Focus ST. Check out if there is a Kia car club that does track days. Ford Performance do them ;)

I wouldn’t track my car if my life depended on it.

Don’t get me wron, I know I mentioned that my cars potential is wasted on roads, but even if I had a 911 Turbo S, I still wouldn’t track it.

Hey mate, im definitely not I even went to make a point that I wasnt but inevitably the way of the forum is that someone will be offended. Wasnt even pointed at your car, which is a very good one indeed. If youve taken offense, then I apologise :).

You can replace Kia in my above comment with most car brands, but you have to admit that something like Kia isnt an aspirational money no object brand?

Im not talking speed which your car has in spades, im referring to the topic as was initially posted. I remember my first car a 1978 Toyota Corolla, with probably 10% of your Stingers HP in the hands of a 17 y.o idiot was still capable of breaking the law which the highway patrolmen of nsw were keen to reminded me. Whilst im still an idiot, im no longer one on the roads, but id still have a 911 turbo S over a Stinger were it money no object, and I reckon most people would be the same. Theres pride of ownership, design, the way it makes you feel even when not going fast, materials used, sound they make. There is so much more to a 911 Turbo S other than the speed factor. If you dont want all the speed of the Turbo S, theres the standard 911 which isnt much faster than your Stinger. You are happy with your Stinger and thats great, its a great car but if you were a billionaire tomorrow I doubt youd be rockin a Stinger (Singer maybe :P ) for much longer and to that is the question posed by this thread.

Im just bored waiting for the cricket to start so I can be even more bored watching it - so I made a comment which was not intended to offend the fine owners of Kia's throughout the stereonet community. Keep on keeping on, my South Korean supporting Hifi friends!

I would buy a Morgan Roadster 2019 like this, for a more classic look.

Not driven this later model, only an older 1980's Plus 4. The style, the pure cruising pleasure.
