statman Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 good one tuyen, the ultimate high voltage tube. i know someone who is planning to put these back into limited production. regards,g. Yes the 212E/V1505 , the most impressive tube in my collection, I built a 50 watt SE amp using this tube about 20 years ago, sounded great , a "monster" 300B sound , Tango trans, tube bridge rectifiers, 2000V , no kidding I had to get someone to help me put one of the mono blocs on the test bench and I'm a weightlifter. I've been doing a sensible "rebuild" that weighs something reasonable for about 10 years, but the chances of finishing it are 50:50, and as I get older the voltages get even scarier. But there is no more visually impressive tube than the 212E IMO. 1
loki65 Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 A couple more tubes to keep my supratek company. 3

Guest JohnA Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 Just got my first tube amp congrats on the new amp, she looks a beauty
Full Range Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 Very nice indeed Congrats and welcome to the sweet dark side
twwen2 Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Thanks gents, it has been an interesting experience so far. The VT50 is tonally excellent, but without an active pre (currently using passive volume attenuation on my RWA DAC) it really struggles to drive my Magnepan MMG's. The Dynaudio C1's present a much easier load, which the amp is much more comfortable with. However I still notice the lack of overall grunt compared to my Parasound A21 (400wpc into 4 ohms). 1
k-k-k-kenny Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 Less grunt, perhaps, but a more seductive quality of moaning? Looks v nice. 1
