Those KB/T labelled 6J5's appear to have identical internal construction to the Tungsram L63 Tottenham made KB/T tubes that are available from Langrex. To me they appear to be the same tube. No wonder they sound so good. You are also fortunate enough to have the later 180watt PT version of the SV-2A3. For the 5R4GY I would recommend sourcing an early 1950's black plate Brimar 5R4GY as per the photo below.

Hi Kirk, does it matter what shape the getter is? I've noticed the square or D getter version is considerably more expensive than the O getter type. These are all Brimar labeled. Thanks Peter.

Yes, Peter, it does. The D getter type pre-dates the O getter type. Pre-dating the D or square getter type is the solid pan or inverted cup getter type. The earlier the tube revision the better sounding is the general rule of thumb. Why? Hand made, over-engineered and more exotic materials used. That's a snapshot summary. Happy to answer any further questions.

But it's not the shape of the getter that makes a difference to the sound. The shape of the getter is used to identify production source and age etc..

Thanks, would you still recommend the O getter version?
