Warren M. Posted August 18, 2021 Posted August 18, 2021 (edited) Further information: This, my Lyra Kleos cartridge, has today been returned to me by the Australian distributors of Lyra, after having been rebuilt by hand to new condition by Lyra in Japan. It is indistinguishable from a newly purchased Lyra Kleos but for price: The RRP of a new Lyra Kleos is $6,500. The rebuild has taken the better part of a year! At $6500, many regard the Lyra Kleos as the best sounding and most revealing cartridge at anywhere near its price. It is an incredible sounding cartridge, especially when it comes to focusing in on each soloist and voice in a performance. Truly amazing. At the price I am asking there is no cartridge which comes anywhere near it. For reasons of severe financial pressure, I've reverted to my old retipped Shelter 501 Mk 2, which sounds great for the price but delivers so much less of the musical experience than the Kleos does. There really is no comparison, but I can't afford to keep the Kleos. Specifications: Designer: Jonathan Carr Builder: Yoshinori Mishima (final build and testing), Akiko Ishiyama (preliminary build) Type: Medium weight, medium compliance, low impedance moving coil cartridge Frequency range: 10Hz-50kHz Channel separation: 35dB or better at 1kHz Output voltage: 0.5mV@5cm/sec Cartridge weight: 8.8g Recommended tracking force: 1.75g Recommended load directly into MC phono input: 86.6ohms - 47kohms based on listening or setting by guidelines in provided instructions (further specs in instruction sheet) Photos: PLEASE READ If you include any reference to pricing whatsoever in this section (excluding RRP), your ad will not be approved If you are advertising multiple items, you must post one bulk price only, or post seperate ads for each item If you don't include photographs of the actual item being sold, your ad will not be approved You understand that a reasonable donation for selling fees is expected upon successful sale of your item - if you have previously sold items and not made a donation, your advertisement may not be approved. The fact is, the importer is undercutting their own RRP! Several retailers outside Victoria are charging the $6500 RRP for the standard Lyra Kleos. Hydrology Posted August 26, 2021 Posted August 26, 2021 Sonic Purity are pretty much all over their website, so I would be inclined to say that the RRP on their site is correct and the dealers havent adjusted (or cant if they bought stock at the old price) 1
