djackal
Hi all, I'm looking at in-ceiling speakers and ceiling mounting my projector. What do people on here use to connect their speakers and projector to their amp? I can see some reasonably well rated wall plates on Amazon (and other retailers) and just want to make sure that they are fit for purpose? Haven't been able to find any information on better quality options and I've never met a sparky that didn't charge like a wounded bull for selling these kind of things as part of the install. The Fosman 7.1 looks ok as it also has HDMI and in theory I could hook up my 4 ceiling and 2 surround speakers with this. Thoughts?
Administrator Marc Posted August 14, 2021 Administrator Share Posted August 14, 2021 The best wall plates are no wall plates, I'm afraid. Not only do wall plates create more connections in the chain (often poor quality too), they seem to become redundant quickly in my experience, as your system changes. I now just use continuous runs of cables, and use brush boxes.
Quark
For HDMI, wall plates (other than pass through, brush/bullnose type) are an absolute no-no.
djackal
Thanks guys. I've gone ahead and bought a pair of bull nose brushed wall plates. I'll set one up at the back of the room for my surrounds and the front should have enough room for 6x speaker cables and HDMI for ceiling mounted projector. Cheers for the tips.
