Arcam A-90 to Rotel RA-1572 Integrated Amplifier

Folks , thinking to upgrade Arcam A-90  Integrated Amplifier to Rotel RA-1572 Integrated Amplifier.

 

What you guys think ? Good upgrade? Rotel 1572 is currently on special for $1895. Planning to upgrade my speakers too. I want to get Vienna acoustics baby grand.

 

Will it be a good combo?  Of course I need to listen to them , due to lockdown it is impossible. Your thoughts ?

I don’t have experience of the Viennas but looking at their measurements they drop down significantly below 8 ohms. So you will an amp that can deliver plenty of current to get the best out of them. Not sure the Rotel will do that. Other people with experience of the amp/ speaker will step in.

The Baby Grands are nowhere near as difficult to drive as the Concert Grands.  I seem to recall @TerryO saying he had very good results with a low wattage tube amp.

I can't comment on speaker synergy - but I can say that the Rotel 15 series are sturdy, reliable things that never offend, and always do what they're told.

 

The lockdown thing is difficult. Unfortunately Rotel resale value isn't great, mainly because they aren't a sought after or prestigious brand, so if you don't like it you'll probably cop a loss moving it on. I'd chat to the various sellers and see what they're willing to do.
