James Broadhurst Posted August 8, 2021 Posted August 8, 2021 Custom 4 way speakers with open baffle mid's and high and sealed woofer. The speakers consist of a Coral tweeters and upper mids and philips dome midrange and woofer. Bought recently off a SN Member. They sound great but just have too many speakers at the moment so unfortunately they have to go. You can tell a lot of thought and care went into making these. Very impressive sounding speakers for the price. Pick up from Coburg North. 2
Axl Posted August 9, 2021 Posted August 9, 2021 I am an audiophile noob and knew there were 3-way systems. 4-way systems seem so cool. Is there a pronounced difference in how they sound? 1
Rod Gittos Posted August 9, 2021 Posted August 9, 2021 I bet these speakers sound nice. The crossover seems to be quite complex and has good quality parts as well. Good luck with the sale. 1
speedysolo Posted August 10, 2021 Posted August 10, 2021 (edited) Interesting. They kind of remind me of some extended Kef 105's or ESS heils. My guess is that these are a modified version of the beautiful ETI 4000's judging by the high quality for their time Philips drivers down low. Vintage designs with complex 4 way crossovers can sound beautifully smooth but can lack some detail in the top end unless done right. Still sound beautiful either way I imagine, and the open baffle upper mids and highs may provide some very spacious top end. I'd love to hear these. Great value if they sound as good as they look! These would be a very good buy for someone wanting big vintage smooth sound. GLWTS. Edited August 10, 2021 by speedysolo
