betty boop Posted August 8, 2021 Posted August 8, 2021 Train to Busan on Blu-ray if looking for a zombie apocalypse movie, am not sure have come across a better one... and this one is 100 miles an hour... ,keeps you on edge the entire time ! nail biting even Korean language with english subtitles... and you want the us release not the trilogy which is what i got by mistake initially... the us release has a fantastic enveloping and very dynamic DTS-X sound track and the picture quality is amazing really for what is blu-ray - watched this on the jvc n7 projector and it was plain stunning....some screen shots below as a taste.. viewing in person it is just even more impressive ! 5
Mobe1969 Posted August 8, 2021 Posted August 8, 2021 Shame we didn't get the better audio like the US release. No DTS-X. I got the US release. To be honest though, and this is speaking as someone who watches a LOT of Asian cinema, and Korean movies (I buy a lot from HK direct and even European releases and add subtitles), the of all the around 40 Korean movies I've seen in the last year, and I've seen so many flat out awesome ones, my least two liked have been Train to Busan and Parasite. Peninsula I liked so much more. 1

Just transfer wise Peninsula is a lovely display of black detail. I really enjoyed the story too. I guess Parasite gets to what I like in movies and fiction in general. If there isn't someone in the movie I can appreciate or root for, I can't get much enjoyment for it. Parasite was the case of for me if everyone in the movie was never born, the world would have been just a bit better. I guess I can't say I'm a fan of human parasites in terms of people that are lifetime non contributors to society that just suck on actual contributors, so I'm unsure how I'd relate to that family in the movie. Busan maybe I need to give it another go, and do a two feature matinee! I can't recall what irritated me so much about it. 1

OzJustin Posted August 8, 2021 Posted August 8, 2021 I watched Train to Busan a couple of months ago and also loved it! I only streamed it via Netflix on my Panasonic 420 player so I'd love to hear the zombie apocalypse via DTS-X soundtrack. I'm sure it would add a whole new level to the immersion. Will have to track down a US copy. Where did you source yours @betty boop? 1

Where did you source yours @betty boop? hi Ozjustin, great you enjoyed I got mine off amazon but a little while ago, only got around to watching now. it now looks to be out of stock or quite expensive via there, i would check likes of ebay and other us sellers perhaps ? as definitely would need the us version 1
vinilink Posted August 8, 2021 Posted August 8, 2021 I have been on this same type KTX train many times to Busan and back to Seoul, but haven't encountered any zombies. The train is super smooth ride and bloody too punctual that I almost missed the train. 2
