Hello,

I'd like to connect an active sub (JBL LSR310S) to my Denon CEOL N11 where there are active satellite speakers (LSR306P) connected to the sub. None of the JBL stuff has arrived yet... but I've got my concerns that I won't get the full frequency range (39 Hz - 24 kHz) from the Denon N11 (subwoofer out/RCA) to the LSR306P's through the sub. The Denon manual is useless on this... it just says - "SUBWOOFER OUT connector - Used to connect a subwoofer with a built-in amplifier."

What do you think the likelihood is that the CEOL N11 outputs the full frequency range - 39 Hz - 24 kHz through the subwoofer out RCA connector? Will this combo work?

Thanks.

I can confirm only LFE is sent out of the subwoofer port on the N11 CEOL and so the LSR306P's will only play LFE.... so the satellite speakers don't work in this configuration. I love the JBL sub, it works brilliantly with the N11 CEOL, so I'm keeping it and the LSR306P's will go back to the shop. To be honest the LSR306P's don't sound as good as my JBL Control 5's anyway... They seem to lack fidelity that the titanium tweeters in the Control 5's exude...

I ended up buying some JBL Control 1 Pro's to replace the LSR306P's and compliment the Control 5's and to be honest... they're nearly as good as the Control 5's... they perhaps lack 10% of the top end and 10% of the bottom end of the Control 5's, but there's not much in it... They work amazingly well together... If I had more space - I would have bought another pair of Control 5's instead of the Control 1 Pros, but I'm very, very happy with the quality, harmony and presence of the sound.

This is the final outcome and the quality is unquestionably excellent... I've lost maybe 20% volume by wiring the speakers in series... but if you didn't know the system before, you wouldn't know at all... Both the Control 1 Pro's and the Control 5's are 4Ω speakers and the Denon N11 is 4-16Ω, so in series it's running at 8Ω which is fine.

Chuffed with the Denon N11... what an amazing media system it is and the HEOS app is excellent. Stream from Spotify, SoundCloud, DAB, MP3's on Windows shares from my PC, CD's, cast from my iPhone.... it's linked to the HEOS Denon 250 upstairs over WIFI and I can group the JBLs and the Denon 250 together or zone it off... it also has an alarm clock built in... it's amazing, looks ace in white (goes with the coffee machine) and it's cheap... Can't compliment it enough.

The sound quality now is perfect... it's absolutely epic... money well spent.

Thank you for your findings. I am about to add a subwoofer to my CEOL - a POLK HTS10 in my case. It has arrived but the cable is lagging behind, so I can't do any hands-on yet, so I am studying the manual in the meantime. The sub has two inputs: a single-cable LFE and a dual-cable (L and R) full range one. The sub's manual says that, if connected via its LFE input, it's adjustable  low pass filter will be disabled (obviously relying on the LPF on the receiver side). So my question is: do you have any clue about the cutoff frequency of the CEOL LFE output? Or maybe it will be a good idea to connect them via one of the full-range posts and try to find the optimal cutoff point?
