Just in case anyone missed the news, they are pressing a box set containing Knopfler's solo stuff. This was a big deal for me as I am sure it is for others. Sailing to Philadelphia and Shangri-La are must haves.

I put my pre-order in through a German website "hhv.de". Ended up paying $308 landed for the 11xlp set.

Remastered collection of the first five studio albums in the Mark Knopfler catalogue, to mark the 25th Anniversary of his first solo studio album Golden Heart. Includes Golden Heart
(1996), Sailing To Philadelphia (2000), The Ragpicker’s Dream (2002), Shangri-La (2004), Kill To Get Crimson (2007), plus an exclusive bonus disc of studio b-sides from this period: Gravy
Train: The B-Sides 1996-2007. Audio has been newly remastered by Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios in London.

11LP remastered collection, pressed on 180g black vinyl and housed in a rigid outer slipcase.
Includes 6 embossed art prints of each of the covers.
Plus download card.

Totally agree. Knopfler's solo albums are terrific. His songwriting is consistently top notch, his playing exquisite, the production impeccable, My SACD of Shangri-La is a fave. It also has one of the best songs about Elvis!

Anyone know if available for pre-order from Australian retailers. Or might just pre-order of his website.

I had a good look today, couldn't see it anywhere. Likely a matter of time though.

144GBP off his site plus likely postage

Yeah I went to various sites today including his. The website I linked above was the best price delivered I could find.

The "remastered" label worries me.  Anything remastered I find is usually less that the original.  I hope I am wrong here as I'd love that box set too.

If you could post SQ results when they arrive, that would be greatly appreciated.

  • 1 month later...

Pre-ordered through Discrepancy. Can't wait. Not worried about saving 20 to 30 bucks ordering from OS. I've ordered from the States before and they misplaced it.

Finally came a month later.

I'm grateful to have these on vinyl.

Only played the first two albums so far and they're OK I suppose in terms of sound quality. Pressing quality is good, no pressing faults so far.

Definitely not audiophile quality, but only being picky, I prefer a more open and dynamic sound.

I got mine on Tuesday from HHV. Don't have a turntable up and running at the moment so please let me know your thoughts.

Cracked the seal today and went straight for Ragpickers Dream. A great pressing IMHO. Disappointingly, 4 of the 6 albums have split their inner covers.  Weather forecast for tomorrow is cold and wet, so I might binge on the remaining 5 albums.
