The system Comprises:

  • Vitus Audio RI-1OO fully balanced amp in great condition with remote
  • Magnepan 1.7i speakers about a year old, I am the original owner. Comes with a bracing that really tightens the lower frequencies
  • Linn Sondek LP12, I am unsure of age but with the following upgrades: Hercules II power supply (2 speed), Roksan  Nima uni pivot tone arm, Denon  103R cartridge, upgraded arm board and base board
  • AQVOX 2 CI balanced phono stage
  • Ayre Acoustics CX 7e CD Player with third party remote
  • Auralic Vega DAC with remote
  • Auralic Aries Streamer with remote
  • Cables include Analysis Plus interconnects and speaker cable, NBS interconnects

The system is largely run using balanced inputs. All items are in good to excellent condition.

I built this system up, one piece at a time. Often a component would come in and didn’t match my expectations after which it was sold. What remains is the best of all my purchases. I love the music this system reproduces but I am just not using it enough.

Each of these components have been favourably reviewed on numerous forums and I don’t think anything I write can do it justice.

The price is firm and I prefer to sell the system as a whole, but may be willing to split if I don’t get an offer for all of it. Please PM me with your interest. I will make a decision within the next couple of days whether to keep together as a system or sell as separate components.

Anyone interested in an audition who from a COVID-19 hotspot will have to wait until the lockdown is finished.

ps/- I know the equipment rack is not very pretty, but it is incredibly stable and a great platform for the components. Additional images can be taken on request.

I’ve had Maggie’s of various ilks for the last 30 years, the 1.7i is the best balanced most musical of all of those. If only they weren’t so damn big .  I never felt the need for a sub woofer with those speakers but, to be fair they don’t go much below 35-37hz.

And there it is. WOW!!! A lot of time end effort gone onto putting it all together. It would be a shame to break it up. I hope you find someone to take it all.

If you don’t get an offer for all, I am still in the market for an LP12. If you decide you’d look at splitting, could you please PM me details/pricing later?

Cheers

Possibly the most well thought-out system posted here for sale in many a year.

I hope buyers realise what a terrific package this is!

I use the exact same Bunnings Racking for my system, I wanted strong industrial look, I stained the MDF with Japanese Black Floor and it looks the part. I may be interested in the 1.7’s thank you and best of luck

It’s definitely industrial, I replaced the top shelf with a piece of 5 ply, not sure that it made a large difference, but every little bit helps when you get to this level of resolution. For the purpose of photography I removed my mass dampeners which made an audible difference. They consist of a thick sorbothane sheet with one or more steel cartographers map weights on top. Cheap and they work

Delightful system. Should sound really good.

Voice  in particular is sublime, Carah Dillon’s voice (a truly amazing voice) gives me goose bumps on this system.

blues, rock, jazz, classical all great they all work with this system. I am not a fan of opera or Leeder so I haven’t tried too much of that although Wagner’s Tristan and Isolde is amazing.

That's a great system at a fantastic price. You have all sources covered - streaming, CD & vinyl, as part of the package. Putting together something like this from scratch will probably cost much much more than the advertised price.

GLWTS!

Nice system! I’m sure it sounds great - I similarly run an RI100 into Maggie’s (3.7) and it’s a great combo. Transparency of planers with the organic fleshed out detail and current of the Vitus is hard to beat. Voices are spookily real.

Hi Lars

Have you tried other Int amp with the 1.7 besides Vitus R100 ? How  did you end up with the Vitus R100 ? Does it has the juice to drive the maggie 1.7 which is quite hard to drive ?

Oh boy have I tried other amps, started off wit an Ayre ax-7, great sound but not enough drive. Moved to an Ayre 100w power house (don’t remember the exact model) it had plenty of push but sounded a little dark to my ears.

any other amp in my collection just didn’t cut the mustard, you knew you were listening through the system..  When I dropped in the ri-100 it was a revelation. It did everything the ax-7 did but on a much grander scale. In my small room (actually also my office) the system disappeared leaving me with just the performers/performance.

I know it sounds a bit over the top but that’s the best way I can explain it. I know from reading a number of reviews, others have had a similar experience.

Oh dear, the amp is definitely the item of most interest. I am still deciding on the best strategy for this sale.

My honest opinion - although it's a fantastic system, you'd have a hard time finding someone who will take the whole lot. Selling them separate would be much easier, but a lot more hassle.  But most of your items are extremely popular,  they would have no problems finding a buyer.

If I wasn't constantly having to move, I'd take your Maggies in an instant. I bet my OADs would drive them nicely.
