I just read this at the BBC news site, apparently in May he had a bad reaction to the Astra Zeneca vaccine.

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-57934379

The whole Vaccine Passport has been undermined in France anyway, by clinics offering the passport to un-vaccinated people for 300 euro.

DW News on SBS had a segment about it Thursday morning.

Here I was thinking Eric Clapton and Van Morrison were sensible intelligent people. I was wrong!😪 Apparently they are fine with a killer disease being spread at their concerts. Thankfully I have never owned one of either's albums.....and never will!

This from the ABC News website:

"What did Eric Clapton say?

Releasing a statement through London-based Italian architect and film producer Robin Monotti, an anti-vaccine activist, Clapton likened Mr Johnson's requirement to a form of discrimination.

"I wish to say that I will not perform on any stage where there is a discriminated audience present. Unless there is provision made for all people to attend, I reserve the right to cancel the show."

Clapton wrote to Monotti in May saying he had a "severe reaction" lasting 10 days after receiving his first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine.

Clapton does not have any shows scheduled in the UK until mid-2022.

The 76-year-old has previously railed against the UK government's COVID-19 restriction measures, collaborating with Morrison in December last year for an anti-lockdown single called Stand and Deliver."

What a couple of rich self entitled twats!

Enjoy no one at your concerts dickheads (or just ones attended by Trumpers).

Eric and Van are two of my all time greatest musicians, but when it comes to health and medical matters they should stick to playing music  and not trash their reputation with being associated with moronic anti vaxxers.

Eric's stance on this, as an anti vaxxer,  is rather odd as he's had both his AZ shots and has fully recovered from the disastrous reactions he allegedly had to both the first and second shots.

Rights come with responsibilities. Spreading propaganda  should come with a fine or a jail sentence or both when it can contribute to peoples demise.

I look forward to his performances in the future that may involve a street corner and a soap box

When the day comes when we are fighting for whatever rights we may left,

you and others like yourself are going to be the last kind of people i want standing beside me.

It’s up to the individual to decipher fact from fiction.  Would you have fined or jailed Pythagoras or Aristotle for alluding that the earth was round when this was a very unpopular theory at the time?

When the day comes and millions of people have died as a result of a virus for which they could have been saved by a simple vaccination ,the last people I would want beside me would be conspiracy theorists and we have rights robots.

It is fine if ,by exercising their rights, nobody else is harmed, but in this case their delusional choice destroys the rights of others to live their life in good health.

This is selfishness at its disgusting worst.

No I would not as their theories were unlikely to lead to the deaths of millions.

I don't know if anyone else has read EC's autobiography. There is no denying the guy's musical talent. Or that he is a weapons grade narcisist.

Yeah I've read it. Cover photo says a lot.

Since enabling post approval on this thread, it's clear from the unapproved posts this discussion has descended into an pro/anti-vax debate, which StereoNET is not the place for, sorry. There are other places for those debates.

I would hate to see members falling out with one another (and worse, leaving StereoNET) over a topic such as this, when ultimately we're here for music and our shared hi-fi passion. The cons of allowing this topic to continue outweigh the pros unfortunately.
