Further information:

A classic Denon 304 cart for sale. I had every intention of keeping this cart and eventually getting it upgraded with a boron cantilever and nude micro ridge stylus. But unfortunately something has come up and I need the cash. It’s just sitting in the cupboard at the moment as I have have my main cart, Kiseki Blue installed the moment.

I was very surprised with the sound quality from the 304, it easily bested the Rondo Red I was running previously in every way. Sounds very good with the Sutherland Insight I’ve picked up recently. I’m unsure of hours but sounds very good and from the photos attached you can see it’s in very good condition. Quote for getting it upgraded is $400, I believe it would be a bit of a giant killer after that. Not that it needs it now. I will definitely revisit the Denon carts when funds allow.

I would prefer a local cash sale, but can post safely in no interest locally.

How well do you think this cart would suit a Rega P3-24 with stock RB301 tonearm and running through a Rega Fono MC preamp.

I currently have a DL-103 installed which sounds great on everything - except inner grooves.

Would definitely suit your lower mass arm much better than the 103...

To be honest I’m not sure. I have had a look at the specs for the fono and it should have enough gain, the resistance loading of 400ohm would work as well. I tried it on my Sutherland loaded at 200ohm and it was really good.

@TheWretchedWorld seems to know more than me, so it would work well with the 301 tonearm?

Hi Sam,

as I said I’ll see if I have any local interest as I would prefer not to post but if there is none by Friday I’ll touch base with you.

Cheers Dave.

On and running at 1.2g VTF, bias/anti-skating set just over 1 on the magnetic bias slider and loaded at 400 ohms. Sings like a bird!

Massive leap over the DL-103 on my RB301.

Thanks for the advice to those who provided it.
