blakey72 Posted July 6, 2021 Author Posted July 6, 2021 The Exposure 2010S2 sounds amazing with them. There is however a Earle Weston Artisan 150 on build currently to take over duties. 16 1

F'ing amayzing ... I looked at about 10 so-called "reviews" of the Exposure 2010S2 Integrated Amplifier and nowhere could I find the simple specs of: power into 8 ohms and power into 4 ohms. Why I think this is important that, AIUI ... Harbeth spkrs can drop to quite low impedances. So they need an amp "with balls" to drive them well. IOW ... having a power supply which enables the amp to deliver at least 180% of their output into 8 ohms ... into 4 ohms. And ... have you filled those stands with something? Like lead shot ... dry sand ... garnet? Andy 1

Haven't heard better in a 4.5mx4.5m room.
wen Posted July 6, 2021 Posted July 6, 2021 Hey Andy, i vaguely remember reading a stereophile review that went something like this, how can an amp with such specs sound so good, i realised its in the perception of the individual listening, not the specs

So does your Exposure 2010S2 Integrated Amplifier have monster output ... or am I wrong about Harbeth spkrs? (My understanding was that March Audio P451s, say, were a great match with Harbeths.) Andy

muon* Posted July 6, 2021 Posted July 6, 2021 Lovely! Congrats! Now can you move that chair that's in front of the left one? Should be really awesome once you have the Artisan powering them 1
wen Posted July 6, 2021 Posted July 6, 2021 hard to be disingenuous about what one is hearing, but easy for others to comment on
Ray H Posted July 6, 2021 Posted July 6, 2021 Yes I had a beautiful pair of 30.1, in the tiger ebony. After trying a bunch of nice sounding low power amps (out of the Alan Shaw playbook), I hooked them up to a 200 watt amp, voila magic !
Guest deanB Posted July 6, 2021 Posted July 6, 2021 Very nice Blakey. If these measure anything like the 4 Harbeth models Stereophile have tested, then the Weston should be a great partner.

I remember back in the day, you had to put plastic bags in the stand first, just incase the sand got damp from humidity and destroyed things. 1

It seems to have enough power for this size room easily. The Artisan will have 50w/ch so see how I go. It's not really meant to be my 'loud' rock/metal kinda system, that's reserved for another one which involves PMC

needlerunner Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 Congrats mate. Harbeth and PMCs. Doesn't get much better does it. What music duties will the Harbeths be required to do? Ken.

Some examples - Tracey Chapman, Sade, Cassandra Wilson, Sam Smith, George Michael and Ed Sheeran. A mix of what I like and what my wife likes Happy wife, happy life.... Yeah the old school look was what I was going for. The Artisan is in oiled walnut too so a good match. . Haven't decided on sources yet.
tubularbells Posted July 8, 2021 Posted July 8, 2021 I got my HL5's back when I had my Luxman 505UX and to be honest was pretty underwhelmed by the sound of this system so after just a few short months of ownership decided to move them on however after selling them (and waiting for the new owner to collect) I ended up selling the Luxman replacing it with a tube integrated (Leben CS600) and my god what a revelation! The sound was amazing giving me instant sellers remorse so my point is IMO the HL5's do respond very well to tubes and upstream components absolutely matter. Get that right and the HL5's will reward you with a very enjoyable listening experience. 4
