Hi guys

Just after some advice, I have the below digital set up.

  • Chord TT2 Dac
  • Hugo Mscaler
  • Auralic Aries G1 Transport
  • Curious Evolved USB between Aries G1 & Mscaler (I use a jitterbug at the Aries G1 out)

Do you think there is any need to have something before I enter the Mscaler?

I have been looking at the Ifi USB Regen but not sure if it will make any difference, they say that the Aries is pretty good regarding clean digital out...

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers Barry

I think thats the issue, always looking for more - digital is so different to Vinyl isnt it...

Someone did find a difference with the Innuos Phoenix

But further down, someone  else mentioned that Rob Watts, the designer of the M Scaler said a re-clocker would degrade the sound.

I suspect that results are setup and gear dependent, and you will have to jump into the rabbit hole to find out what works for you.  When you try a re-clocker, try it with and without the Jitterbug.  Also, some re-clockers work better with a linear power supply. I believe you can do better than the Curious USB cable but that is yet another rabbit hole.  Enjoy your journey... 😀

You will probably get a performance boost changing the dual BNC cables connecting the MScaler and the TT2.  I would try that first.  Changing to a higher end USB is also worth considering.

I have a TT2 and I use the wireworld Platinum USB cable with the ifi micro iusb, as well as another usb decrapifier called the USBePerfect.   The ifi iusb is worthwhile as I found it tighten the bass.  The most noticeable difference was the wireworld platinum USB (I had the Curious USB before) which resulted in a better decays, wider soundstage and more transient detail.

Thanks for the feedback, the dual BNC's I have are great (Wave Fidelity Storm) and not that old so I dont wish to upgrade, I will check out alternate USB's

First thing I would do is to remover the Jitterbug that's in the chain. I feel they offer nothing and it's just another link.

The rest of your gear is quality, and Chord's USB implementation is very good.

Matches my experience. I never found any genuine improvement with them.... Ended up tossing them in the bin rather than on-selling them to some other poor bugger,
