Ditch your 70's SS receivers and own a real piece of history in the form of this beautiful US made receiver.

Classic vintage valve receiver which has just been serviced/restored by Paul at Falls Audio. Faceplate is very tidy with one brass face on the tuner knob being replaced. As the brass face is new it is shinier than the other knobs but outside of that it is a very close match. Some of the lettering on the chassis has faded which is typical. Tubes are mixture of original Fisher, NOS Philips (most are these) and EH output valves. The tuner in this is excellent and everything functions as it should.

The timber case is included in the sale but it needs a bit of work to be presentable, worst part being a large chip from the timber molding in the bottom corner.

Works carried out:

Removed and replaced faulty tuner drum assembly (I sourced an original spare from the US)

Replace broken dial cord

Replaced all faulty electrolytic capacitors

Cleaned all potentiometers and switches

Tested all functions, all OK

The Fisher 500C is one of the classic receivers and is always in high demand from collectors. Introduced in 1964 it is estimated that over 100,000 units have been sold so it was obviously very popular with the audio buying public. It’s tube design delivers 35 watts per channel and features a multiplex FM tuner. The 500C’s big brother the Fisher 800C is similar but it also has an AM tuner.
