Hello Folks, it took me many months to think this over before I finally decide to put this on sale!

 

This is one preamplifier that I have made countless comparisons to and I have listened to so many setups before I am convinced.

There are many reviewers out there but not all are trustworthy especially in this day and age. The above is from Paul Messenger and there are very good reasons why he highly recommended it.

 

This is a rare specific production run by Audio Research that has TEFLON CAPS installed in them. Not all Ref5SE has these caps installed due to limited supplies and other constraints - not even the current Ref6 and Ref6SE. The Ref5SE strikes a fine balance between tube and solid state characteristics. The Ref5SE is fast yet refined, it’s punchy with layered of bass depth, it’s transparent and never harden at the very high notes. These qualities are hard to achieve even in the current Ref6 or Ref6SE.

 

Further more I have upgraded all fuses with Hifi-Tuning Supreme and Herbie's Ultrasonic Rx Tube Dampers in every single tubes. On top of that the top cover been upgraded to steel not the std plastic that will warp over time. All tubes been replaced and has been well maintained. You would find some posting with minimal tube hours but that is because the hours count can be easily reset (http://www.aca.gr/index/hiend/hiendArticles?row=1646) which I don’t. Also all inputs and outputs are capped to protect it from oxidation or tarnishing over time and the connecting points are in pristine conditions.

 

It has always been operated in my air-conditioned study room. All my gears are always in pristine condition with a good track record and reviews from both buyers and sellers. It is purchased locally and I have the original boxes and manual to go with. Looking for a good owner and hopefully one that will enjoy and appreciates its supreme sonic qualities.
