infernosix Posted January 16, 2021 Posted January 16, 2021 I just got myself a pair of Martin Logans. Any owners in this forum? I would like to know if any problems and how is the service support. Thanks for sharing!
Joseph Lazaroo Posted January 17, 2021 Posted January 17, 2021 Congratulation it is a nice pair of speakers. I used to have the Sequel II. The only set back is after 3 to 5 years the front panel need to be replaced. At that time the former agent charge $800 for panel replacement. If it was stored in a air con environment, it will prolong the live time but eventually it will break down. Than there are some people who mention to me that, the new technology the panel have been improved. Sorry to say it does not, cause I have been doing repairs on even the newer models. This happens to all electro static speaker period e.g Quads.
Jag Posted January 17, 2021 Posted January 17, 2021 I’m using a pair of Ethos for the past 6 years. So far no issues.
noend Posted January 26, 2021 Posted January 26, 2021 Moister and dust is the main problem for electrostatic speakers. Beside keeping it in an aircond room, I switched on the dehumidifier after my listening session. You will be surprised how much moister it can collect after one night.
aquarius Posted February 9, 2021 Posted February 9, 2021 (edited) My apologies if I had hijacked this thread. If inappropriate, please delete. I had my 1982 pair of Acoustat 2+2 electrostatics set up and working about a month ago, after 12 years in storage (it's a long story). Source is Spotify and it still sings, almost as good as I had remembered. The source then was a Roksan/Syrinx PU2/Accuphase AC3 30+ years ago. Amp now is a Hafler Transnova (300w+300w) and a Robertson Audio 4010 mk2. Edited February 9, 2021 by aquarius Re-phrase and typos.

I wonder why.

Anthony Goldie Posted June 27, 2021 Posted June 27, 2021 I heard that from the reading i have done as well
Steever Posted June 28, 2021 Posted June 28, 2021 I have Ethos. Original panels and no issues. In fact, they're quite stunning and I've not enjoyed music and TV this much for a awfully long time. Mine are on IsoAcoustics Gaia III footers and outrigger legs. Cables are Nordost Frey and electronics are from Cyrus Audio. A wonderful combination. Having said this, I may pull the rear panels to check out the internal crossovers for possible improvements. It's what I enjoy doing.
Justin Collins Posted September 15, 2021 Posted September 15, 2021 I have had ML Summits for 10 years now. I still have them but also now have ML 13a. I have changed the ESL panels on the Summits once in that time. It's a good idea not to have the ESL panels exposed to direct sunlight.

Hi Justin, How was your experience of replacing the Summit panels? Expensive? Difficult? I also have Summits but live in a fairly remote area of NZ and worry about how I can replace the panels when the time comes.

Where in NZ are you?
Steever Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 Just showered my Ethos panels. Yes, that's correct - pulled them apart and warm showered them with water in the bathroom. They sound absolutely marvellous now.

robin-hobart Posted July 7, 2023 Posted July 7, 2023 Thought I'd rejuvenate this old thread.... Back in 2014 I sold my ML Ascent speakers - one of the worst decisions in my entire hifi life. Then, a month ago, I re-purchased them; from the guy I sold them to; the very same pair. I know they are 20+ years old - almost certainly out of spec, panels tired, etc. But at this point (having fiddled with well over 100 pairs of speakers over the last 20 years) they sound wonderful to my old ears. Air, detail, speed, clarity, natural vocals. I know these things are coloured, & have their faults, but for my tastes, they remain my best ever speaker experience.
Mr 57 Posted July 7, 2023 Posted July 7, 2023 (edited) Agreed, there is something very special , easy listenable sound from ESL’s I too love the “air” associated with their presentation. As you say , once you’ve lived with stats or panels of some variety, it’s difficult to be satisfied with boxes. Welcome back to the dark side Edited July 7, 2023 by Mr 57
joz Posted July 7, 2023 Posted July 7, 2023 I temporarily had a pair of monoliths which I’d purchased while my speakers we’re getting repaired. Now these were old but within their limits were absolute magic. I’d sold them to a friend, but on on the condition if he decided to sell them I’d get first dibs again. 2
